Hi everyone,
so i changed a string in my guitar and now i have to tune it almost every two minutes.
Is this normal or did i do something wrong while stringing the guitar?
Also if it's normal for how long do i have to do it before it stops untuning itself?
Well after putting my new strings I always grab them and pull them to stretch them. I do that to all of the strings starting from top to bottom. And after like 2 times all string I t would be fine.
What Miodrag said ! Stretching is super important. When I change mine I always stretch before I tune. Then when it’s all good I’ll just jam away some power chords for a minute or so and check the tuning (usually it’s detuned a bit) so I stretch again and rinse and repeat. I normally don’t have to retune more than 2-3 times before I’m good.
Yep, it's normal. I remember one time being so annoyed by this that I just proceeded to do bends on each string and retune each string until the de-tuning was reduced to the standard "just re-tune every now and then if you feel like it" stage .
Totally normal, I restrung mine this morning, tuned it up, played a bit to stretch the strings, and when I pick it up again tomorrow and maybe again the day after it'll need to be tuned up a bit more. After that the strings should be fully acclimated to their new home.
