Sad thing in music industry

so i was scrolling down youtube when i saw a video of a EDM ”musician” on how to make a song, and in the first part of the video he shows how to create the chord progression and i cringed when he said ‘you gotta play an A minor” when he was playing a D minor then he played an A# a F major then he called a F major a C major and finally he played a C major saying he was playing a G major.
So yeah i think its kinda sad that people call themselves musicians when they dont even know the basic chords that even newbies learn on their first month of playing any instrument, and even worse is that they get/are famous.

Why am I not surprised that you found that on YouTube? The problem with YouTube is that everybody claims that they are a professional and they know what they are doing. That’s why in every single tutorial I state clearly that I am a student. It’s also discrediting a lot of the actual teachers that went to school and know what they are doing. Nobody wants to pay for anything these days. Who is going to pay $75 to have a private lesson with a jazz master who graduated from Berkeley University when they can go online and watch some dude who acts like he knows what hes doing and not have to pay for it? There are a lot of amazing channels on YouTube. You just have to dig through them. But ultimately I will still always come back to this school. I like Rick Beato’s page and Achim Kohl’s page and a couple of others but that is about it. There are some really good country pickers out there too!

Yeah I’ve seen countless videos of these self proclaimed producers who pretend they know what they are doing but in reality they just use fancy words and never get to the point. But the good thing is that not all youtube is like that, there are a lot of people who know what they are doing, you just need to find them.

its getting worse on facebook then youtube I think. People trying to sell you directions on how to mix or record etc.. Its all simple stuff you can find online for free lol. Plus recording tends to just get better over time. You figure out the settings and whatnot, why things are distorted. etc.
I can’t say much tho, I went years and years without knowing theory simply b ecause I dind’t want to, or could really afford to pay for lol.
