I also used jazz 3 picks for like 2 years and I had 1 jim root pick in my pile of picks. One time I lost all my jazz 3's and chose to play with the Jim root one and I fell in love with it. Since then that is tho only kind of pick I use

I've been wanting to try one of his picks..just for fun though

I just did something I've never done - I ordered D'Addario picks to try. I think I've always used Dunlop because they were the "Default" and I kinda forgot other major brands even made picks.

I ordered some .80 "Black Ice" picks, which are a tortex-like material and roughly Jazz III sized. I hope they arrive monday or tuesday. Could be interesting!
