Hi guys,
I should have proberly posted this a while ago but idek why i didnt tbh. Anyway, this post is to do with all the lessons regarding Caged.
When i first began learning CAGED, it was all so good, I understood everything PG was teaching me, but this was until the lessons regarding playing over chords came into my life…
PG mentioned how he would use these certain CAGED position chords over the chords that were being played. BUT, I had no fucking clue how the hell he decided what shape to use over a chord, lets say over the A chord. I spent months, literally months trying to figure this out. It wasnt that no one taught it well, it was that I just couldnt understand it for the life of me.
Anyway, a few months later and BAM! It clicked like it was nothin! You use the root note of the shape to determine the chord! For example, if you wanted to play a A chord in a Caged postions, lets say using the E shape in the 5th position. As the root of E is the open Low E string, this applies to the caged! So i must use that as my guide to find the chord i want and work from there.
I hope this makes sense, this was just a massive relief from all the frustration it caused and i was so happy when i cracked it!

Hey dude, I’m glad you got it, and yes, that’s right.
I just wanted to say that the next time you feel confused or in doubt, don’t spend MONTHS trying to find out. I think it’s easier if you ask here in the forum. There are always guys here ready to explain you what you need. Anyway, good job!

Agree with rute there. (You changed your name!)
If you ever dont get something. Post what you think it is. Even if you’re wrong or think you may be right but dont know. I did this with my jazz progression video and that’s something I’m still gonna expand on when I move.
If you are wrong.. you’ll be told how to do it right. As long as you dont grt offended by that you’ll do just fine!
