Hello,
I’m a beginner and I use my father’s acoustic guitar, which is a concert guitar (I’m not sure if it’s called like that in english) with nylon strings. Now I want to buy one for myself, but I don’t know which one. I’m learning through YouTube videos and I noticed the majority uses western guitars. Are those more recommendable? Can anyone tell me about their experiences?

It all depends on what you want to play really. If you want to do John mayer, Tommy emanuel type stuff or just rock acoustic stuff a western us probably your best bet. If you’re more into flamenco and classical stuff a nylon is probably a better option. Personally I never liked playing acoustic so much until I got my gitane (which is like the gypsy jazz guitar) and that gitane is probably my 2nd favourite guitar right now.

I would recommend getting a steel string acoustic just because you can play almost anything on it and everyone uses them and will have them for sale at stores. like Ids said it also depends on your musical style. a western guitar would work fine but i would just get some kind of steel string guitar made by the big guitar companies (fender, epiphone, gibson, schecter etc

I would suggest western steel string. It is much more versatile for rock, pop, etc. Nylon string guitars are more geared to classical, flamenco, bossa nova, etc. And a Gypsy guitar pretty much just does Gypsy.
