Yes, definitely DON’T let it get that bad. I actually had a problem with that after only an hour of practicing. I referred to it as “Calluses are always FORMING but never FORM.” I constantly suffered from skill peeling and baby skin always being revealed. Ids Schiere on here actually reached out to me and said “Avoid having your hands in water for too long before you play, especially hot water.”
I always practiced after I got home from the gym and showered or took a SUPER hot bath and did a load of dishes. I’ve changed some habits quite a bit and it helped SOOO much.

yeah it may actually have been my sweaty hands after 4 hours of playing which would soften it up, also while learning i always press abit too hard and also having awkward hand positions when bending because it’s not in my damned hands yet

When I first started, I went about 6-8 hours a day most days. Nowadays (30+ years, wife, kids, and 50 pounds later), I shoot for an hour a day 5-6 days a week and some days I like going longer – I keep the practice to that, and then enjoy PLAYING beyond that.

I like to seperate all the things I need to practice into 3 days.
    Day 1:
    -Scales
    -Theory (Chords, Intervals, Fretboard Memorization)
    Day 2:
-Alternate Picking Etudes + (Punisher Excercise)
    -Practice Songs (Alternate, Clean, Fingerpicking)
    -Fingerpicking Practice.
    Day 3:
    -Music Theory.
    -Learn Something New.
    REPEAT
I’m not a huge fan of timing how long I practice a day, I don’t
like pushing myself for a longer time because I lose motivation.
I’m more of trying to see If I properly learned this and that.
