If you’re going to have a floating bridge, there is NONE BETTER than one using Floyd Rose patented technology. Hard stop. Fact. End of story. (I say it that way because Ibanez tremolos are not made by Floyd Rose, but use their patents to make their own).
Advantages – all things whammy, from major effect to subtle vibrato. Absolutely ROCK SOLID tuning stability. Better than anything else out there, including fixed bridges.
Disadvantages – String changes take longer, if you break a string, the guitar is unplayably out of tune until it’s replaced, can’t change tunings on the fly.
Next time I restring one of the Ibanez, I plan to make a video.

+ Floyd’s stay in tune better doing bends and you can do dive bombs
-you really have to set it up for a specific tuning from drop d to standard won’t go that easy. If you do it anyway your guitar will really not stay in tune and it sucks balls.
Tuning and changing strings isn’t that bad when you get how it works

Advantages: Divebombs, flutters, etc. All the cool tricks in the book. Even just some nice subtle accents. It stays in tune for years. Maybe not quite, but I tune mine maybe once a week.
Disadvantages: You’re more or less stuck in the tuning and string gauge it’s set up for. If you want to change tuning or change the string gauge from factory, you’ll have to do a lot of readjusting with springs and tension. You also can’t change tunings on the fly, and restringing is an afternoon project (not quite, I’ve got mine down to 45 mins, but it can feel like it.) Also, like Ed said, if one string suddenly changes tension drastically, the whole guitar is out of whack. So buy good strings.

+Really cool effects such as dive bombs, simulated bending, flutters and note slurs.
+Better tuning that any other type of tremolo bridge.
    -Takes time to restring
-Pain to tune (That being said I just tuned mine down from drop D to drop C# with no resistance)
Definitely get one if you don’t already Even if you don’t like it, it is still something useful to have

I’ve never used another bar. But cant go wrong with the floyd rose. However, there ARE different versions that I feel are much better then others. I like the one on my Revenger more then my newer one. But thats only because I can pull on it harder where the other I have to more shake the divebomb
