As I lay here, writing tutorials for my website, prepping the next one for you guys and listening to Avenged Sevenfold, a band my 2-year-old son can't get enough of, I found myself looking back at what has been a...different year for me.

And since 2019 is drawing to a close in two weeks from now, I wanted to ask you guys and girls: how was it for you? What are the things that you are most proud of accomplishing?

For me, there's a handful of them:
    - I got out of some jobs that did nothing but make me angry...all the time
    - I got back into doing what I love: creating stuff, both written and musical
    - I have finally made peace with the fact that I no longer identify as a software developer
    - I came back here, one of the few places where people told me stuff I have been doing good instead of focusing only on mistakes.

    What about you?

For me, it was a great year guitarwise, I definetly improved, got some new gear and found new excitement in playing guitar.
I also got my brother into metal and playing again.
Flew all alone for the first time and spent almost a month in the US with relatives.
Layed out a plan regarding my future and applied at some places.
Improved immensely in my art and leatherwork, got customers all the time who want me to make armguards for archery. A small dream come true to earn money by creating art.

So on to a hopefully even more successfull year and a new decade!

    - Made some memories with my friends that will last a lifetime

This has been a horrible and amazing year at the same time.... Horrible because of the never ending drag and shit that's happened to me. Amazing because I didn't take it sitting down, I reacted well and had friends who were there for me.
    This year:
-I kept pushing through all the pain
-I got orders to move to Japan
-I accepted that I don't need to be drawing if it's stressing me out
-I found the guitar, this site, music, and a passion that actually calms me down and inspires me at the same time. And this family came with it.
-I made videos of myself for the first time, which is nerve wracking
-And I learned that laughing like an idiot and looking stupid is cooler than trying to look and be cool all the time "it takes an idiot to do cool things, that's why it's cool" -Fooly Cooly (anime)

Happy 2020 everybody. Tonight I'm going to make my last video before the move and New Year and am going to issue a challenge. Love y'all

2020 was a mixed bag. A lot of depression, and everything that comes with that (self doubt, etc etc), a lot of really cool stuff happened as well. Things I’m proud of are:
    - Jumping back into playing 1000% and starting to learn techniques that I’ve always thought were beyond me
    - Really cracking down on what I’m eating and drinking. I’ve definitely been feeling better this last month or so with my diet.
    - I began jump roping a month or two ago and I shit you not it’s helped with everything. Definitely has already got me in some pretty great shape (along with healthier eating) and has helped remove a lot of stress and negativity.
    - I got my new doggo Luna this year (she’s a husky, Australian Cattle dog, Austrian shepherd mix) and she’s pretty much my best friend. I adore that dog haha

I'm better at guitar. In the beginning of 2019 I couldn't even bend in tune, and now I can play harder solos with sweeps and stuff. It's all because of this school and my hard work. I wrote more songs, acoustic songs, I love it, and I wrote a guitar piece.
On these summer holidays I practiced more than 10 hours a day and that was really cool. Really cool.

I formed a band with my old music school friends. They are good people. (I have some videos of us that I have to post here).

Unfortunately, we are not a band anymore because our guitarist moved. I still jamming with the drummer sometimes.

I didn't fail 10th grade, OMG, that was a big surprise, because, yes, I play too much guitar. Fuck maths. Fuck chemistry. Fuck physics.
I'm going to fail 11th for sure.

Haha just gotta make it through. What I learned from school is that after all that stress, anxiety, negative self image, etc is that none of it fucking matters unless those classes are what you're trying to do 😂

Quite a good year for me :

    - Got my first folk acoustic guitar in january (YAMAHA FSX800C), and it sounds great
    - Made a trip alone to Halifax Nova Scotia to work on my English
    - Found what I wanted to do in life
    - I finally stopped studying in web programming, a big change that helped my mental health quite a lot
    - I was accepted in a program to help other people to better understand French
    - I was not accepted in the music school in my area (which only motivated me to try again in a few months)
    - Getting better and better at the guitar learning "Le Pic-bois" by Beau Dommage, "Autumn Leaves" and some metal tunes and memes
    - I began to play the harmonica, which is really fun !
