    Pentatonic scales

Physically, they can be exactly the same shape in the same position. The difference is the root note. ie. the e-minor pentatonic is the same shape and position as the g-major pentatonic. If you look at the notes say on the high (or low) E string, fret 12 is the E, fret 15 is the G. So a...

    beginner question

+1 on the Katana Mini -- it's what I use, really simple but good sounding. Especially for when you're starting out. Means you will learn how to shape and find the different tones/pickup combinations on your guitar quicker and for what purpose. It also has reverb and delay in it.

    Ouch! My fretting hand hurts!

I found that recently too. Though it's probably directly related to playing a bit more (and when I'm using a lot of barre chords). I think it's like the others said. It's a "when you're hands get stronger it will go away". Bit like calouses on your fingertips and lack there of when you start...

I *think* you need to do a little bit more palm muting on the start of the phrase, otherwise it sounds like you're on the right path.

    Welcome back !

    Fingerpicking, any advice?

Anything that makes you pickup your guitar is a good thing so you should do it. You will find that it will influence your style and you will borrow from various areas as you need them. And everything at the start will feel clumsy, the more you do it, it will all just click in the end 🙂

    Heavier v lighter hand

Really depends on what I’m playing.. I’m used to having it generally anchored on the pinky and palm muting as needed. I tend to play percussive so I often have my hand “floppy” heh.

    Guitar Playing

If it is the other strings resulting in the noise, try working on muting with your fretting hand. Otherwise it I could be dynamics which I found a lot harder on electric than acoustic. Try setting your amp to mid gain (just not near full gain) where if you strike the strings hard you can hear...
