How do you think music will evolve?

I think the real evolution of music tends to be around the blending of different genres into something new. Looking for things that have become "classic" and putting a new spin on it. The building blocks will remain roughly the same, but musicians and producers will find new ways and new angles...

Totally Curious! What Will Your SynTV Channel Be About?

Guitar tech stuff. Floyd rose joy. Setups and tuneups, building tones on amps and modelers. Computer tech support, home studio basics - Q&A sessions and, I think, some jamming.

Learning on different neck/fret/scale sizes VS sticking to one?

Better to be able to adapt to whatever’s in your hands. It’s okay to have a “default” or preference, but don’t limit yourself by ONLY playing one type.

    All that, and midget wrestling.

We want to hear from you!

A lot to unpack here, but I'll start with the important stuff. I've stood toe to toe with the man and also stepped on a scale. I am TWICE the man Syn is, so HA! Seriously, I never expected to draw the responses Syn does. Some members find my recommendations appealing and helpful - I do it for...

Comment by 'Ed Seith' in media 'M.I.A'

If more musicians were willing to do this, younger players wouldn't develop a complex about perfect playing.

yeah, the face in the solo got me too. Nicely done, and well memorized. Not an easy song. I think you're overshooting your bends (see ~4:00) pushing them a little too sharp. Practicing bends usually involves fretting the note you want to hit normally, as a "reference note" and then dropping...

Comment by 'Ed Seith' in media 'Adam's song cover'

Sounding good, William. If you have a metronome app, set it to 136 bpm and try to play tighter to that, since it's near impossible to practice along with an alternate-tuned song (D standard) on a normal-tuned guitar. Making that acoustic sound THICK AS HELL, too, which is awesome.

Just A Personal Thought About The School Rebranding ...

Settle down, everyone. Assume positive intent - I've read the thread. No one intended to insult anyone else.

    The Album of the year

For me Mastodon is a giant pile of incredible pieces that don't add up to a sum greater than the parts, and while I love the odd song here and there, I just don't love any of their albums.

    The Album of the year

Spiritbox hit my radar a couple days ago, and so far, I really do enjoy it. I like the new INK, but I'm not sure it's enough of a departure from TSS to really be a winner for me. The new Trivium was disappointing to me at first, but more listens have brought love. I really dig that one. New...

Just A Personal Thought About The School Rebranding ...

Social media has its place, for good or for ill (as each person's desire and mileage may vary), but the point is clear, and we appreciate Jak bringing up the comparison. I realize the SITE has become more merch and "brand" focused, but - and I might be biased - I really don't see it that much...

Overview of The Pentatonic Scale – Lesson 20

That is the blues scale in A. It's basically pentatonic with the "blue note" added. In this case, the blue note is the D# at the 6th fret 5th string and 8th fret 3rd string.

We want to hear from you!

While I hear what you’re saying, Kfir, and I hope it will change soon, for now Syn is largely avoiding public convos about anything but the NFTs. There are reasons for that, and we can’t get into it. I think as we get closer to new album time, there will be a fresh injection of excitement, from...

    Give me some tips

A7X songs are complex, musically dense, and often have a LOT going on. If you're new to songwriting, start simpler, but AMBITIOUSLY and see what you can do. Most of the melodies Syn plays under the choruses are NOT directly related to the vocal melody, but they DO tie back clearly and...

We want to hear from you!

They're good cents. I don't think I'm going out on a limb saying that we all had our reservations about combining, but the Dude who pays the bills and has his name stamped all over it had the final say. In the end, however, it really is ENTIRELY up to the members to keep it school-focused. We...
