    Totally get it, and truth be told, sometimes you get the timing off, but you gotta keep playing. The important thing is to not stop playing while you're switching. Dead air where there shouldn't be dead air is a killer.

    I think the soundbank has a separate installer program. Look in the same folder you found the GuitarPro installer (your Downloads folder) and see if there's an executable for installing the soundbanks.
