Five Solos That Changed You As A Player

Oh, that’s a good one. 1. Dire Straits – Sultans of Swing. I heard this on the radio when I was a kid living in New York in probably 1981 or 82. I recorded it onto a cassette, from the chorus before the first solo, and I listened to it over and over and over again until the end. The DJ didn’t...

    Amp stuff

I know we chatted over IG and I offered some ideas, but did you get it worked out?

    Rattle

Did you change string gauges? Go to a lighter gauge, by any chance?

Remember Guys and Gals going live

I hope it went well. As I’ve said before, Saturdays are tough for me until the El Tour de Tucson bike race in two weeks. After Thanksgiving, I should have a lot more leeway.

    Rattle

OK, so on the headstock? You have something loose. If it’s up near the headstock, it’s most likely One of the hex nuts that hold the tuner to the headstock. If it’s not that, something else in the vicinity is loose, because that’s vibration that shouldn’t be there. Hit a low E open and move your...

    Rattle

Not EXACTLY sure what you’re asking. Is the rattle happening in-room with you (coming from the guitar) or is it just present in the video?

Does the axe fx cab packs in the store work with the axe fox ultra?

@cameron, it’s a download of *.syx files, which you import using the Cab Manager functionality within Axe-Exit on a PC. From there, you can use them with the Cab block on any preset. I will be doing a follow-up shortly to my livestream from a couple weeks ago. I will be answering some questions...

    Another idea for the School

This is (eventually) going to happen. It was in planning stages, and all the Korean spammers and viral nonsense happened, and it got put on hold. I assume we will see it eventually.

    Shocking news for me… opinions?

    Augmented and diminished intervals

@andrei – I find that if I make a post, and then try to edit it right away (found a mistake or something), I can save the edit, but the post disappears. I hope you saved the text and can republish!

You should comment on that thread instead of starting a new one.

    Picks

In the sampler I got, there was one of those 2.0 blacks. They feel different. Too slippery and very plasticky. I didn’t care for them. I did also just discover a white Tortex 1.5 I’ll try out, and I’ll also re-evaluate my old faithful, the 2.0mm Jazz Stubby (I used those for 25 years).

    Picks

I used a 1.14 Tortex Jazz III for a while to help correct some picking problems, but as a rule I stick to thick. Currently it’s the Ultex Jazz III. It’s between 1.5 and 2.0 mm thick, but I don’t know exactly. It doesn’t flex and they last for weeks of hard playing. Sure, they’re the color of...

Does the axe fx cab packs in the store work with the axe fox ultra?

Anything in the AxeFX2 family, it will work. AxeFXII is when ultra-res cabs came into support.

    Breakdown Episode – The Stage

I really would have liked it if Matt let Syn talk more, getting more into the modulations and thoughts behind the writing of the music and the melodies, but I appreciate that he did cover some of where he used this cab or that cab – helps to work through the cab pack tones a little.

    Solo Trouble

What a great song, and a GREAT ALBUM (them, on that tour, with Pantera opening at Meadowlands Summerfest in New Jersey in 1992 was among the TOP FIVE shows I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen many, many hundreds of shows). Also, that song is a great example of using double-stops to write riffs. Randy...
