So not quite so much about my playing. . Since it has become non existent these days. But I had to share. So I’m working in child welfare. . Working way too fucking much btw, which is why I literally have no time to do anything. But that’s besides the point. Anyway, I supervise visits for foster kids when they get to see their biological parents, to make sure they aren’t abused when they see them. So I pick them up and take them where they need to go. And the car ride there I’ve decided is my duty to get these kids into good music . .with my older kids anyway. After pumping stuff like A7X into their ears for weeks. . Last week something happened. When the kid got to his mom’s and went into his room I heard Hail to the King blaring from upstairs. .and I thought yesssss I’ve made a positive impact ! But then it got better. He asked about a guitar that had been at his house and talked about how he wished he could play. . and I got to tell him about the school! I’m like fuck yes! Here I could be getting these hopeless kids with shitty lives from rural Iowa into something positive, that’s not sports or working on some farm because they have no other options. So anyway. . Just when I felt pretty hopeless myself about being able to help these kids feel better, I realized I had this as a resource to help. .and it kind of made my day.
