See. I didn't mind this at all. Sounds like 20 year old pop in a different language. Like a Balkan version of Livin' La Vida Loca.
The melody was crazy catchy. Call me nuts (which everyone will) - but I would rather listen to this than Dark Side of the Moon.
lol.
That's a bold statement! Haha. But fair enough.

Generally I don't have a problem with any type of music, but this kind of music has a certain lifestyle attached to it and it makes people dumber. It's all about materialism, with no grasp of what's really going on in the world. It's very soulless, but I guess that's what most people are drawn to nowadays. They don't like thinking too much haha.

Hey Papa Gates - I would love to see your reaction to turbo folk music. It's a popular form of music here on the Balkans, and it is the worst thing ever haha. So I agree with your comment, except when it comes to this kind of music, because anyone who seriously likes this stuff is just... ahh I can't even continue how terrible this is.

I literally just chose a random song, because all this shit sounds the same. It's absolute garbage music.
To paraphrase A7X, Dear God.

I'd love for these fans to react to The Wall! :)

That's the beauty of music. Different bands touch different people. Thank God - or we'd all be listening to the same band.
You can't really argue why you like or dislike a band because it's completely subjective. I HATE Pink Floyd and Journey. I can't tell you why. I just do. Their music does zero for me. No. It actually irritates me. It's actually a visceral reaction. Like taking a big gulp of sour milk. You don't try to figure out why you don't like it - you just spit it out. I don't think they suck or they're terrible - and I certainly see why lots of people love them. They're just not for me.
In the end, it's like arguing a flavor of ice cream. Completely pointless - because we all possess different taste buds.
btw - I liked Nickleback's first album. After that, they seemed to repeat themselves or even move backwards.
Just an opinion. And if you dig The 'Back - God bless you! Be proud!
It's much braver to define yourself by what you love than what you hate.
Man … I can't believe PG now knows about my Nickelback fandom … :)
I agree with you on music, I hate Iron Maiden, and I can't really explain it. (MIght have something to do with Bruce though! :) )
The first Nickelback album is great! Honestly though PG, I would recommend you check out Nickelback's album The Long Road, that's the same album with Someday on it. It's a metal record essentially, other than a few mainstream rock radio singles.
And be honest PG, was Syn jamming to those 'Back records when they first came out? Please tell me he had a poster of Chad! HAHAHAH :)
Thanks.

Ha! Not that I'm aware of. Haven't listened to The Long Road in many years. I will check it out.

When I'm out partying that's honestly fine. It's not something I would listen at home or anything but you can dance to it in a club/bar

I do like some pink Floyd songs but I have to say I never listen to their records start to finish just the songs I like really.

I agree with that - but 99% of pop music is soulless. Soulless might be an overstatement. Let's just say most pop is not socially conscious or it's not designed to make a positive change in the world. And I have no problem with that. Purple Haze & Back in Black never enlightened anybody or ended a war. Still fun to listen to.

I think you can still have some positive influence from someone like Adele, as opposed to stuff like this. Even Michael Jackson, he's had some songs about equality and whatnot. And then you get people like Lady Gaga who are artists in their own right.

But this has no depth whatsoever. Musically, lyrically, the way it presents itself... It's the lowest common denominator type thing.

I don't mind popular music, it's the whole no one plays instruments thing which really annoys me.

That as well. It's a myriad of different things.

Matt Heafy from Trivium said it right, pop music is the fast food of music, while rock and metal are proper cuisine type foods haha.

Matt makes everything about food, which only pisses me off because dude is so goddamn skinny. Wait til he hits 40...

Yep! Though more prog metal than prog rock. Opeth, Dream Theater, Mastodon, Meshuggah and those types of bands are my favorites.

I also like when a thrash band, or a death metal band adds the prog elements - like Death on The Sound of Perseverance for example.
I find prog, as in classic prog, to be a good alternative to popular music, great melodies, vocals, playing in general.

I like some songs by King Crimson, Rush and Emmerson, Lake & Palmer - but I wouldn't call myself a proper fan.

Some of that stuff can get too widdly for me haha. I'm into riffs and hard hitting double bass 4/4's, so those bands lose me when they go full on circus mode.

And how did I forgot to mention Tool? Haha.

I think this its a bit extreme to talk down towards pop music like that. Writing a great pop song is an art form. It just has it's focus on different aspects of the song than metal and rock may have but that doesn't mean it isn't proper cuisine. That's my opinion maybe I'm weird about that.
