If I were you, after you do what Calvin said, if you don't like the options on the amp, scrap it and get a small Katana or something, rather than putting pedal after pedal in front of an amp you don't like. Lipstick on a pig and all that.

For what you'd pay for a good pedal or two, you could have something much better.

@Ids Schiere - I am definitely NOT a pedal guy! I literally have one (Drop pedal) that I have bought in the last 30 years. Once I started using digital rack effect processors, I never went back.
I bought Katana 50 few months ago and untill now no need for a pedal for me, there are so many sounds possible with this amp. Before i had Roland Cube 30, and this is a rly nice upgrade, well worth the money, i think it is 200 euro

So as a beginner, i am curious as to what should be the first effect pedal to get or should i even get one right now?
Tuning pedal. I know it's not essentially an effect pedal but truthfully too many beginners try to overcompensate their skill by Drowning it out with effects right from the get-go. You can experiment with your sound later when you really know what you're doing a bit more. Not to mention you have to understand how to use certain effects pedals a certain way so it doesn't end up coming out like disgusting white noise. I would focus on getting at least a year of guitar under your belt before you even worried about that. Like some people slightly mentioned above, maybe something like a distortion pedal would be okay or something that could be like a chorus pedal but nothing too over-the-top and psycho

I agree.

I didnt start buying pedals until I was asking myself "what is he doing there? Why cant i achieve that sound?"

I just used a distortion grundge pedal for about 10 years. The next one was the wah.
