Great advice! Certain players have "go to" shapes and positions. The only way you can get that sound is to play it exactly the same way.

Forgot to say, John Frusciante really loves triads too! That helped too in that department

Snow (hey oh) for example is G#m E-shape(3rd inversion), E C-shape(1st inversion), B G-shape(1st inversion), F# C-shape(1st inversion), G#m E-shape(3rd inversion), E C-shape(1st inversion), B G-shape(1st inversion), F# E-shape(2nd inversion)

Add the Hendrixy embellishments and that's it.

I just went through this. Syn mentioned the concept of Jazz substitutions but it kind of went over my head
Any tips on how to get going with it.
I want to try and start applying better chords in my compositions.

I was dreading the day that I was going to add 7ths to my chord memorization... Though it's clicking much quicker than anticipated. Great lesson!

Is there an easy trick to memorise this for all chords?
Like the circle of 5th and 4th for intervals, and the octave trick to figure out notes on the fretboard.
