Hey guys this community has personally helped me a lot so I decided to post about something that has has seemingly helped me improve my soloing skills within the past week or so. I only started improvising about 4 months ago and for a while I’d solo I’d play the same sorts of stuff over and over and over again.(We’re coming back coming back) But I watched a video by the amazing guitarist and instructor Claus Levine on the YT channel guitarmastery about improvising and he gave great advice. He said to take on idea, so compose in the beginning, it can be long, short, simple whatever but he said to take an idea and keep playing around with it until you have a complete phrase that you’re happy with. He went on to explain that as you keep practicing this you’ll begin to get it right the first time as you’ll be constantly improvising musical phrases and then into complete solos! I’m charting my progress by using my voice memo app on my phone to record my best lick of the day so to speak. Also Marty Friedman’s Melodic Control is worth watching as well. Anyways hopes this helps and KEEP SHREDDIN’ We’re all gonna be freakin guitar gods one day if we stick at it!
