The notes are fretting out because your bridge is adjusted too low. Depending on your reasons for bringing the bridge down that far, your neck may be bowed too far, and you may need to tighten the truss rod – the neck bow should be only VERY slightly forward. If you’re not comfortable or familiar with this process, it might be better to take it to a local music shop for a “setup.” A basic setup usually costs between $50-75 US and can be the difference between a guitar that cries (in the bad way, not in the SRV way) and a guitar that sings a joyful (or angry) tune.
