Right?! @Brian Haner Sr. Can play guitar behind his head. Haven't seen Syn do that yet

    Beginner here....
I’ve found we don’t get much love in the riffs section. I know personally, I tend to put a disclaimer that I’m a beginner in the title so if someone doesn’t want to want me bomb, I save them a click
hmmm...maybe I need to stop doing that lmao

I quite seriously could not agree with you more. On the 1st rendition of the school, there were so many advanced players that I would write comments on their videos and say "you know there's about 200 students that have been posting needing help on the forums and you could really help them out right now." I agree with you. Most of them just seem to be doing it for views and to show off

The funny thing about these guys that think they are amazing by doing mindless shredding on the riff page is that Dave Gilmour could destroy all of them with a single bend.

I don't mind see people posting videos of them practicing sweeps at high speed. But if you can play that fast to nothing.. that's kinda fun.

But how does it sound behind a chord progression. Playing scales fast and mindless is fine. I wanna see how you change the scales up to fit the chords. And for more then the 30 seconds or minute Instagram allows.

I'm not impressed really with mindless shredding of sweeps, it kind of reminds me of the whole Steve Morse vs Ritchie Blackmore debate. Steve Morse, from a technical point, there probably isn't anything on the guitar he can't do. But when I hear sweeps I think, well, that's all well and good, but all that tells me is that you practiced the shit out of the guitar, running up and down a scale. After a few minutes of listening to that I start thinking about football actually.

That's very true! Sometimes it seems like some people who do post riffs are only really here for personal gain because they just post themselves playing amazing but never ever interact ok the forums.

One of the reasons many may not be posting may be the content licence rules.

"You are granting us with a non-exclusive, permanent, irrevocable, unlimited license to use, publish, or re-publish your Content in connection with the Service. You retain copyright over the Content."

So far I've only seen Syn share IG posts on his own IG, nothing else seems to happen with it. The rules are basic. but I can imagine It may hold beginners back.
