Hi guys and girls
About 6 weeks ago I bought a new guitar, Ephiphone Les Paul Custom Pro. Since 2 weeks the switch for treble and rhytm is not working correct, when it is on rhytm i sometimes loose signal or it cracks (dont know if thats a goof english word…). Not very often, sometimes doesnt happen for hours. I tried a new cable, but problem is same.I can send it back and they will send a new one, but thats kind of some work: they dont have new ones in stock so i have to wait 4 weeks, i need to get a box to send the guitar i (i trew mine away after few weeks, cause wasnt intend to send it back). The shop advices to openit up ad use contact spray. But i never used it and also sometimes read negative about use of that. And I want a good working guitar and not one that is fixed for short time.
I have hard time deciding what to do, send it back, be patient an wait for new one or use contact spray? Advice needed 😛

Contact spray is definitely the proper first step. Open the little circular cavity on the back for the pickup switch with a #2 phillips screwdriver. Two or three short bursts of contact spray on the metal parts, then work the switch back and forth a few times to get the spray in there and cleaning. You can also use the long “straw” that comes with the contact spray to shoot a little bit into the front of the switch, as well (be sure to get any off the guitar’s finish with a clean cotton or microfiber cloth, if you have overspray), and wiggle it back and forth again.
It’s important for you to know that this WILL NOT void a warranty, in any way. If the contact spray has no effect, you can still send it back. Good luck!
