Hi all, hope you’re all well.
After speaking with ids on his live stream, we thought it would be a good idea to have a thread on here for people to post their own songs. Either to just show them off or to get some tips and advice on how to improve them before releasing them into the big bad world.
@jak I noticed you wanted to post your bands videos and songs, maybe you could post them here? I’ve also noticed quite a few other people post their own songs. So get posting, I think we’d all love to hear people’s song

I already posted my song before but since this topic is for posting songs made by SGS community I thought why not post it again. Anyway this is not a guitar song, it’s more based on synths because the way I write music is I get inspired by the sound of an instrument rather than creating a melody in my head and then playing it on a guitar or a synth. I also free myself of music theory and I just do whatever I want, there are no rules. The genre of this song is dark synthwave, not sure if you are familiar with that but it’s something i really like. Anyway, looking forward to hearing other peoples music

This is a little older, with the backing track and arrangement dating back to an early band in 1991, and the leads and melodies coming about in about 2012. Finally, I was able to update the mix a little in 2017 when I learned how to trigger drum samples. This much excess is what happens when I don’t have a producer of any kind holding me back, but I still think it’s a fun track.

I do plan on writing more this year and recording something with my AxeFX now that I have that going for me.

@Ed Thanks. I’ve heard of Miami Vice but I never watched it but I just listened to one of the soundtracks and I’m liking what I’m hearing. I’m, pretty sure that Miami Vice has a huge influence on the whole synthwave genre cause synthwave is basically a new wave of 80’s music and I really like it.
Your song sound awesome. It reminds me of a lot of artists, the intro kinda reminded me of the old RHCP when they were funk metal, the shredding reminded me of John 5, when all the crazy shit starts to happen it reminds me of Mr Bungle and when the song completely changes and slows down it reminds me of Metallica, but then again it sounds very original.

Hey there! This is a great post! I’m still bummed I missed Ids live stream. I promised him I would make it. I made it to one of them but I was caught up in a mess of things. I haven’t gotten a chance to read all the responses or listen to Filip’s song yet but I will this evening. I’m sure it’s great! And thank you for the offer, Richard! I’ll definitely post some of the videos here

Jak – No Worries! You did say you had a question ready though, If you want to you can still ask it!
Filip – You’re song sound pretty rad to me! I like the vibe it has.
Ed – I love your song! It has really interesting twist and turns!
Richard – You have a very nice riff going on there and a nice poppy chorus which works great!

I think I shared this song before but it’s probably one of my favourite songs I’ve written. I wrote it back in 2015 or so and was pretty much unknown with theory. The funny thing about the solo is that I was(and still am) really into exotic scales so I just kinda used Google and came across a website with a lot of guitar scales on it. There was an exotic section in there, I tried all of them out and went like ‘I like the sound of this one the most’ and it was d double harmonic major(even the song is mostly in d minor)
Due to lack of proper recording gear all the sound except what I’m playing is gp6 midi.
