With a heavy heart

Hi guys. It is with a heavy heart that I must announce this but I know that this community will hopefully understand. I am unfortunately stepping down from guitar for a while.
My reasoning is that this is the crunch time in school and I am about to graduate so I need to finish big projects and tests etc. I also lost my passion too, so its hard for me to find something to do and I know theres alot of stuff for me to do, but Im so burned out from papers, experiments, tests, reports and getting my affairs in order for grad school.
I am missing out on collabs that I said Id do and not commenting on other peoples progress and seeing how wonderful this place is and I’m hurting on the inside because of the fact that I cant do anything on the instrument or anything related. So I unfortunately need to withdraw from playing for a while to re-evaluate my situation.
I hope you all understand and Im sorry I let you all down 🙁
Rock on
Your friend

You’re not letting us down, because you’ll be back when you can.
If I might suggest, don’t walk away from the guitar entirely. Take a break from really STUDYING it for a while, but do your best to try and find even 10-15 minutes each day to get your fingers warm on the strings. Play some songs you know. Have FUN and blow off a little daily steam.
If you fully walk away, you’ll lose progress. Trust me when I tell you this – I know it personally. Don’t make my mistake.
Good luck on your exams and all life will be throwing at you for a while. We’ll be here when you’re ready. Hang in there – it gets better.

Just come back when you can. Life gets in the way. Always make room for music or whatever is important to you. I have a doctorate degree, a wife and a kid on the way. I know that life can get in the way but don’t ever give up on music or whatever your passion is.

I was just talking to my singer today about you, John. I was wondering when we were going to see your wonderful presence in here again! But we all understand of course. But here’s the good thing, you can always come back 🙂

what you can do, is put the two together. Listen to certain songs on certain lessons.. and play those songs. I’m sure your brain will continue to make the connections self consciously. It doesn’t hurt to just stop playing guitar either. Just know it’ll be a rough grind to get your finger tips back to where they are used to being. You’ll probably have a few blisters along the way. They suck lol I’ve been there too man. I stopped playing for a year or two for a while when I was playing world of warcraft. I regret that, although I learned a lot playing that game, and I’m trying to push to have that same drive here as well. Where it should have been from the start.
I’m sure there will be a time when you wanna pick up that guitar again. Probably the next time you see syn live lol

Hey man, it’s completely understandable. A local musician who took a break said that after his break it felt good to get back into playing and that he felt his passion spark again, make sure you play at least once a week though, just enough to keep your progress.

Without Reading the other Posts, my opinion:
Life is Life and everybody has to try to Set their priorities right. I guess you do so. So Take your Tests, be successfull and do what you like and come Back Here If you Feel so.
Yes, this is a wonderful place and it will Always Welcome you again. You don’t even need to be able to Play Well or anything, after all you might not be Here If you were a guitar Legend Like Syn 🙂
So maybe we see you again in the Future and until then don’t worry and live your Life to the best! 😉
