In order to expand my musical knowledge I learned all positions of the (C) major scale so I can use the CAGED system and lessons more efficiently. Also training to play standing up, which is quite hard if you haven't done it a lot. Still struggeling playing ANYTHING with my pinky below the twelve.
Watch this video again, and then watch a video of you playing while sitting down. You may notice that your guitar is in a completely different position. In most cases I think we all sit down and practice, so its good to have the practice standing up too for sure. However a rule I always follow is that your guitar should aim to be in the same position standing up as it it when you are sitting down. If you practice majority of the time sitting down, then having the guitar in a lower position while standing up is going to start working muscles you haven't been training to play guitar. It would almost feel like a new technique!
That being said, completely personal with approach to holding a guitar. But maybe give it a go and see if that 12th fret is more comfortable? Or practice more standing up than you do sitting down.
