Finally got around to recording a full cover of this one!
One of my favorite acoustic pieces, been learning it over the last few weeks. Really happy with how it turned out!
Ghost - Dance Macabre

Ghost - Dance Macabre

I fell in love with this solo when I first learned it but got stuck. With the new album coming back out I decided to take another stab at it and am really happy with how it turned out! This has been a really good lesson that sometimes you just need to stick things out when they're tough to play at first. I've historically tried to avoid a lot of bends/chord type phrasing in solos because they're hard for me, but through learning this and Call Me Little Sunshine my feel has really improved a lot.
Absolutely love this solo from Morrigan by Children of Bodom, so have been working on it for a while. This one’s at about 85% speed, but it’s been a really good alternate picking exercise. (I can normally play the beginning much better, but this was the only take where I actually got the scale run in the middle haha). The cool little sweeping part is still pretty tricky for me, and I have to pay really close attention to screw up the little loops and scale runs.
The Trooper

The Trooper

This has been one of my favorite songs to play for a while and finally decided to record part of it. Been having fun figuring out more tricks around recording/video editing (still a lot to learn). This was my first time double tracking my guitar part and I was shocked at how much of a difference it made!
Death - Crystal Mountain
Started learning this song a little while ago and found it super fun. I really like the little scale sequences thrown in there. Had to rock the Synner tee of course :)
Messing around with my upgraded Les Paul
Ive had this old beat up guitar sitting around for years and decided to clean it up, swap out hardware, and install EMGs. I absolutely love how it turned out and now have something to hold me over until I buy a 7 string! Riff is from Shogun by Trivium.

Metallica - Blackened

This one's a killer but super fun to play, almost have it to full speed but need to clean things up a bit.

Trashed and Scattered

Just started learning this today, and while it’s definitely not perfect I’m really happy with how quickly I’ve been able to pick it up. The last few months I’ve really been focusing on picking exercises rather than learning many songs, and I can start seeing it pay off.
Okay time for the 1 month update! I've been working on this quite a bit and have definitely been able to add some speed, though I still have a way to go (this is at 125bpm vs. 110 a month ago). Old video is here: https://synner.com/media/starting-one-month-guitar-challenge-i-am-a-viking.4998/
I've been using this as a practice exercise for a while now, and have found it really helpful to work on my hand synchronization, trying to really focus on keeping my right hand in even time. And since the number of notes per string changes, it gets pretty tricky trying to keep my pick in the right angle.
I know I'm a little late to the game on this, but figured better late than never! I finally figured out the picking to this one, and now want to work on getting my speed up (currently doing around 3/4 speed). Not playing it tuned down because Floyd Rose :)
