One of Syn's really useful tips in Lesson 37 was to commit as much of the Circle of Fifths to memory as possible - something I had put off doing for a while before joining the school. So I decided to memorize it properly and see if I could write a short instrumental cycling through all 12 keys in Lydian - which gives it this weird wonky feel - I put a creative twist in this one and got my foot involved too. Definitely had too much fun making this :D enjoy!
Last night I happened upon the Jacob Collier side of Youtube again...everytime this happens I wake up the next day and try to reharmonize everything - today I finally took it too far and reharmed Happy Birthday into 3 keys - send help
I've recently realized how much I enjoy making split/multi-screen Guitar Videos, so I've made another short one messing around with a Quintuplet groove and stacking Major, Major7 & Min7 chords on top of each other to get really sparkly voicings uploading soon!
HALLOWEEN HELP
(This is non guitar related but sorta music related)
So my band are doing a Halloween live stream on Facebook tonight and we've all to dress up. Only problem is that I don't have a costume or an idea for one...anyone got any wacky ideas of how I could dress up without going and buying a costume?
I know us creatives get hit hard with these struggles, especially with the state of the world right now.
Just know that thing you're stressing over will work out and that you're only human. Check on that friend that's been a bit quiet, even check on the strong friend, and speak to someone if you need to.
So after my rant yesterday, I think someone was listening...we got another email today and after a last minute switch my band's song 'GLUE' will air on Made In Chelsea S20 E2 on MONDAY !
Learning the hard way today that the Music Biz can throw you a curve ball...My band were supposed to have our most recent song placed on a pretty big TV show and it ended up not making the cut for the Episode.
At first when we found out we all excitedly rushed to get signed up to various royalty companies which cost us £200 each - money that none of us really have, In the middle of a pandemic that has put Musicians and the Self Employed under immense financial stress as it is. Defeated isn't the word!
Apologies for the rant, but I feel I can do it more safely/anonymously on here
