A lot of people post guitar covers on youtube. I tried uploading a guitar cover to youtube once but after it finished uploading I immediately received an e-mail that my video was blocked because of a copyright claim.
So, how do you deal with copyrights on youtube?
That last legato etude could indeed be played as a sweep, but in this case Syn doesn’t pick the third string but instead does a hammer-on, and also a hammer-on on the second string when ascending.
Use the bridge pick up and turn up your treble. Touch the string with your thumb right after you pick it. Also, the exact position of your picking hand is important. This guy explains it pretty well:
1. City of Evil
2. The stage
least favorite: sounding the seventh trumpet
can’t really decide on the rest. But why is no one mentioning diamonds in the rough? That one has some great songs aswell.
I have been trying to figure how to play this intro just now and I think the way to play this (or at least how I do it) is by using a downward 2-string sweep, similar to Syn’s etude sweep picking VI, except every note is picked.
Using another pick that suits you better might improve your playing, try experimenting with different types of picks to see which you like best. Also, try experimenting with stuff like the way you hold your pick or the way you position your picking hand to find out what works best for you. But...
Interesting video, makes me wonder if it’s possible that some adults actually have perfect pitch but just don’t realize it. To use the analogy of seeing colors: as if they can perfectly distinguish every color but they just never learnt the names of the colors.
I like most songs from the album black clouds and silver linings, those songs are all quite long though. Scenes from a memory is also great.
By the way, what was the specific song that you were listening to that made you ask this question?
I don’t have any experience with writing songs but I saw this video of Steve Vai a while ago where he explains how he came up with “for the love of god”. It might be helpful to create your own music. Now, whenever I accidently come up with a riff/lick/whatever that sounds good I record. Maybe...
You can find all sorts of tricks online that people claim will make you faster, some might help a little, some are nonsense, but it all boils down to one thing: practice.
I can do bends with my pinky but I generally try to avoid it because I like my ring or middle fingers much more for bending. Avoiding to use my pinky for bends has never really interfered with my playing.
Something you can do to make bending easier (that you might have already heard) is to use...

where the 5th fret is done with your fretting hand and 12 is by tapping. Is it better to perform those pull-offs from 12 to 5 by pushing your tapping finger towards the floor or by...
