    What Ed did

For me, Mötley Crüe = everything up to Dr. Feelgood, and I love it all! Saints of LA was also okay, couple of awesome songs on that. Don't care for any Corabi stuff. Band I Hate: Let's just go with Limp Bizkit Band I think Is Overrated: Sabaton Band/Artist I think is under appreciated...

I agree, learning on a nylon will probably be harder. That being said, the 3rd in your Em and E chords is ringing out now, which is great!! Keep it up!

The Seven Positions of a Major Scale – Third Position – Lesson 54

Awesome, keep it up! (y) I would suggest, before you start with more fancy ways to get through the scale, practice it to a metronome, at whatever speed is comfortable. Do that for all the exercises, simple up/down, string skipping, etc...

    Majority Rules

I like Dunlop Jazz IIIs, the standard red and black ones. 1.38mm and small and stiff, that's all the features I need in a pick. Never tried the fancy variations of Jazz III's.

Comment by 'chris_is_cool' in media 'Knocking on heavens door solos... WORK IN PROGRESS'

I love that you are mentioning this! I started looking deeper into better vibrato just earlier this week after watching the Kiko Louriero livestreams about it. I'm probably gonna start doing dry vibrato exercises, just the same as with any other technique, because at this point my old way is so...

Knocking on heavens door solos... WORK IN PROGRESS

It's time I put a little update on my work in progress with this song... The second solo is brutal, will take a lot more time until I can play it with the backing track. Also, I learned 90% of it by ear, so there are some parts where it is not completely exact yet, haha. Turns out, my...

Comment by 'chris_is_cool' in media 'Knocking On Heaven's Door solo update'

Love it, love it, love it  ! Spot on timing. I know the struggles with bends and vibrato, I'm working on the same solo myself (well, both solos of the song, but still), and you are making amazing progress!

    Vibrato

I'd say that definitely still counts as an exercise. In terms of "letting it come naturally": I was just watching a video of a somewhat popular youtube guitarist the other day about her guitar progress, and she mentions that she didn't actually develop solid vibrato in her first 6 or 7 years of...

    Vibrato

I'm hijacking this old thread to drop these excellent videos that I was watching yesterday (while practicing my vibrato unplugged ^^). I think most guitarists agree on just how important it is to have good vibrato technique, but it is actually talked about a surprisingly little amount. Lots of...

Thank you so much for the feedback everyone  !!! I get your points and agree, I need to put some energy into vibrato!

Some Improv in G Minor/G Dorian

I haven't uploaded something for a couple of weeks. I have been feeling a bit more creative with my improvisation lately, but it's still lacking smoothness and fluidity and confidence. But it is somewhat progressing in the right direction. Anyway, this is a nice backing track from one of my...

Awesome! It is absolutely a great start to record yourself from the very beginning, and share it. Just keep at it at a regular pace and the progress will come in no time.

How To Tune Your Guitar – Lesson 3

You will have to tune one string to a reference pitch. For example, the A on the 5th fret of the high e string should be tuned to 440 Hz: This is also the pitch that is created by a common tuning fork. Unless you have perfect pitch or perfect pitch memory, it is not possible to tune it...

What’s your BIGGEST dream with music?

Step 1: Have at least people to jam with. Thats already accomplished, I have a buddy who also started learning around the same time and we jam together. Step 2: Get in a band, write my own music, perform on stage. That one is realistically gonna take a couple of years, but it motivates me a ton...

Not staying focused on one thing?

I absolutely know the feeling. What helps me is to dedicate at least some tiny part of my daily practice to something that I focus on for weeks, even if its just 15 minutes. And then I spend however long I want on whatever I wanna do that day (which might coincide with further practicing that...
