    Website update general time frame?

There are little “fixes” and tweaking that goes on every day. We’ve been busy making sure we have spam and hacking tackled before we move on with major updates. Should be some more cool stuff coming soon! PG

Is there a lesson for this?

Ed nailed the capo question. As far as the number system goes – Look at the lesson on the C chord family,(Lesson 21). I=C, II=Dm, III=Em, IV=F, V=G, VI=Am, VII=Bdim. So a I VI II V progression would be C Am Dm G.

I smell a contest with some Syn swag for the winner.

    Toxic Trolls

Hi Vasrely! I agree. There are some truly horrible people out there – who are not welcome here. We have a zero tolerance policy here for negative comments about ANYBODY. For me, it’s not about thick skin because I really don’t care what somebody thinks about me, A7X or Jimi Hendrix for that...

    Is banjo hard to learn??

Yes! It’s all about the right hand and different picking patterns called “rolls”. It gets complicated very quickly. The good news is that once you get the rolls down, the left hand is much easier.

    Syn- Stubborn pinky

Elton Breaux – Go over lesson 88. That will definitely help with the pinky. It’s a legato exercise – but you can also alt pick it if you want to.Alt picking it is a great way to build right & left hand sync, in addition to working out your pinky.

    Papa Gates

Ed Seith – I got him into guitar at about age 10. Taught him basic chords, pent scale, etc. I always let him learn whatever he wanted so he would remain interested. Kids HAVE to be self-motivated. If you push a kid, they will generally rebel and guitar will be like homework. Let him play...

Possibly the most important question on here for Brian Sr.

I have no idea. Like all well-dressed men, my wife buys my clothes.

    Syn's White Picks

I used .73 picks for 30 years. Syn convinced me to switch to 2.0 mm. Took me 2 years of sucking out loud before I got completely used to playing with it. It’s like playing with a freakin’ rock. Now Syn tells me he uses a .73 because it’s soooo much better than a 2.0. WTF? Grrrrrrr.

    Notes

Great advice, Filip! Another thing I would add to that – since you already read – would be to start with open position and read some simple guitar exercises. Get to know that position well. Then move up to 5th position (5th fret) and do the same thing. When I started reading I worked in almost...

    Syns 8 string

Ids – He was using a .007, but it was still to heavy. They actually make a .006 but it kept breaking.

    Neck sock question

Some of the MOST AMAZING guitar players I have ever heard use a neck wrap. I don’t believe anything is cheating. If you can make a cool sound come out of your instrument that you like and other people like (hopefully enough to buy tickets to see you), it’s all good. Eddie Van Halen played a solo...

    Syns 8 string

The weird thing about it was it had one string below the low E (B) and one string above the high E (I think A – not sure). I’ve played it at his house a couple of times. Really fun. Not sure if he ever used it in the studio or not.

    Favorite Distortion Pedal(s)?

Lots of good choices out there. Just depends on your needs. Tube Screamer is still the “go to” for most classic rock guys. If want a Tube Screamer and MORE – OCD is a great pedal. I’m using a Wampler Dual Fusion right now. It’s a 2 channel stacked OD/distortion in one box. I absolutely love it...

feeling like I'm not good at guitar

I played at NAMM last week and played the obligatory “Spain”. I just tore it up. Absolutely K I L L E D it! I felt like I was not just a good player, but a great player. Other players patting me on the back and asking me how I played this lick and that lick. An hour later I was at the Wampler...
