    Syn Satin vs Gloss

I had a Schecter Omen-7 that had an angled square heel. It was meh. Access wasn't great. The LP is a 2009 Gibson Les Paul Traditional Pro II in cherryburst, I think.

    Syn Satin vs Gloss

It depends on the heel joint, in all cases. The set neck on my Les Paul is terrible. Huge, ungainly SQUARE. Terrible. The square-heel bolt on necks of old Ibanez, traditional Fenders, etc. Also terrible. Modern set necks, like my PRS or Ormsby offer fantastic access. A well-done bolt-on heel...

Trivium - Catastrophist - What The Dead Men Say

Agree, Dominik. While my expectations for Trivium are possibly unfairly high, this was underwhelming and generic sounding for them. Hopefully, that's just why they chose it as a leading single. Back in the late 80s, the lead single was usually the most generic and sometimes worst song on the...

    Getting a Syn tone.

Well, the fractal and line6 ARE modelers. They will work fine with anything, but if you already have a modeling amp, why would you need to buy something else?

Very Odd Post But I'd Love Your Insight🙂

Even without actually falling asleep (and the Calm app for your phone can help you meditate into it) the 20-30 minutes laying down can make a HUGE difference, especially, ahem, as you get older.

    Getting a Syn tone.

The Hellwin is based off the 5150 architecture, which makes it fairly easy to replicate in an AxeFx (and probably pretty well in a Line6 Pod). As a base rhythm tone, there's not a lot of effects, but he is pretty high gain.

At the point of giving up.

My wake-up moment was "I don't want to be someone who used to play guitar." That realization is what made me draw the line and say NO MORE - I'm DOING THIS.

At the point of giving up.

    Ain't that the goddamn truth.

Can we just take a minute and appreciate Papa Gates's comedy?

Yeah, well, I mean, he's no Carrot Top, but sure...

    Syn Satin vs Gloss

I have always preferred bare necks, but satin will do. In fact, that was the second thing that turned me off to the Syn custom many years ago - the first being, "Holy shit, this is heavy!" I have a few with satin necks and most with bare. My PRS has a gloss neck only because when I bought and...

    Perfect record

Honestly, I always thought Green Day was kind of poser, from the fake accents to the stolen songs (I forget which one, but one of them is TOTALLY Chicago's 25 or six two four, and that's not at all the only one).

    Three finger power cords

Two fingers ALWAYS for power chords. Sometimes index and ring, sometimes index and pinky, but always with the middle finger in the air, cuz I just don't care.

    Perfect record

A punk band with political motives and overtones? INCONCEIVABLE!

    Perfect record

That album hit when I was going through the worst breakup of my life, and that made it timely and in CONSTANT rotation for like a year. That and The Great Southern Trendkill, because while I was broken-hearted, I was also REALLY FUCKING ANGRY about it.

    Perfect record

I'm normally an album oriented listener, so I usually stick with albums I like start to finish, but a few stick out. Leaving out compilations and live albums. Avenged Sevenfold - with such a strong fanhood, it's hard to be objective, which is why I'd pick 3 - CoE, Nightmare, and The Stage Bon...

To lift the finger or to not lift the finger?

I know the middle finger is more correct, but the way it felt natural for me was the temporary position change.

To lift the finger or to not lift the finger?

The way I most naturally played it was in the first measure, I rolled the ring finger on the 7th fret up to the 5th string, and in the second measure, I moved my index finger up to the 6th fret each time, rather than using my middle finger. The only finger that ever stayed "down" beyond its...

Hand size and guitar (what's yours?)

I actually just wrote it wrong - I did measure index to pinky. No better a number!
