    Custom Necks

You could try Nate Perle. I don’t know if he builds to order, but he does aftermarket Ibanez necks and bodies on his own milling machine. I actually just bought a custom guitar from him. While there are minor quality issues with the body and finish, the neck, stainless frets, and setup are...

    Missing whammy bar tutorial

Road mostly. I do have an MTB as well, but that’s mostly for trail riding with my wife. On my road bike, I typically go between 2,000 and 3,000 miles a year.

    Instrumental Rock composition

There is a killer lesson out there. It’s about 45 minutes long, and thoroughly enjoyable. It’s called “Surfing with the Alien,” and it’s by Joe Satriani. The arrangements are generally straightforward, and it’s considered a modern instrumental masterpiece. It also followed the pattern Ids talks...

    Missing whammy bar tutorial

I did a no-prep quick hit video with some stuff about harmonics and whammy tricks and stuff. I haven’t watched it in forever, but there might be some gold in there.

    Dual guitar adapter cable

It’s not that expensive. You could try it, and send it back if it doesn’t do what you need it to. https://www.amazon.com/Ampridge-GA101-Guitar-Adaptor-Instrument/dp/B003EV58EK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1548616227&sr=8-1&keywords=Ampridge+dual

Using different scales in different positions (CAGED)

CAGED is not about the actual chords themselves, but about the SHAPES of the chords. All of those chords, in open position, have a distinctive shape to them, and moving those shapes is how it helps you find the notes of the scales. At least, that’s how I see it. I still struggle with theory, and...

Questions regarding the Cab Packs and Axe-FX in General

Okay, so this is the good and the bad about being active here. I took my main tone, that I’ve spent a year tweaking, and changed the cab out to Syn’s ISO. Spent 10 minutes tweaking it – lots of EQ, changed the amp model (from 5153 Blue to Red), and little stuff like that, and I have a tone I...

    Dual guitar adapter cable

The only way I see it working is if the amp is on the clean channel and gain/effects come from pedals – different pedals in the signal for each guitar, separately, before this adapter.

Questions regarding the Cab Packs and Axe-FX in General

I can, but I can tell you this, too – the iso cab, coupled with my tone, is REALLY thin. It’s just a speaker that features a very different frequency set than I built my heavy tone around, and so it doesn’t sound good with the tone I have dialed. I have no doubt that it CAN be tuned to sound...

Questions regarding the Cab Packs and Axe-FX in General

I did some fairly detailed videos. Syn hung with us on the first one. https://youtu.be/fNRe3FwOkXY The second demos the actual Syn Cab Pack A/B’d against stock Fractal cabs and also a Misha Mansoor cab pack. Let me know if you have any follow-up questions. I don’t have a III, but for most...

    Dual guitar adapter cable

I am not sure this would work how you hope it would with a distorted signal, if you’re thinking that two guitars could play through the same amp at the same time. I could be wrong, I’ve never tried it, but in my logic brain part, the amp will hear the two different signals as only one signal...

Adjust Floyd Rose height on my Syn Custom S

Greetings, Mathias! There are many purists who will insist that you MUST loosen everything to make the adjustments. My experience is that once this particular height is set how it should be (as low as possible without buzz above fret 15, and no dead spots when bending), it doesn’t need...

    guitar cables

I’ve used Spectraflex cables. I have some that are 25 years old and haven’t given me issues. Also a good idea to “loop” your cables through the strap or something else, to protect the jack points. On the guitar, the cable goes through the strap from behind before plugging in.

    That’s quite fetching, really.

    Sidewinder Guitar Cover By Me

Damn. Well done! I wish the video was synced up with the sound better. Was the soloing you did starting at about 4:42 your own or is it buried in the mix? It didn’t sound familiar to me but it did sound really good. Nice!

Any ways to reduce thumb strain while playing?

I’m working through this (among other things) right now. The problem is likely that for those certain parts, you’re tensing up a little (or you just plain GOT USED TO playing those parts tense), and you’re gripping the pick too tightly. Get your metronome (or Amazing Slow Downer software) and...

A Task Bigger Than Expected! :)

I’ve never used this (I would use Guitar Pro probably, but it’s paid software). This is free and looks like it will do what you need it to: https://musescore.org/en

Does bad technique matter if results are good?

WHAT CHRIS FUCKING SAID. ABSOLUTE PERFECTION. IN ALL CAPS, EVEN.

Saved for later – can’t wait to watch this. Congratulations!

    song created by me

Louder, yes. Now I can actually hear them! For reference, probably still not quite loud enough, but definitely better. There’s a weird bit at roughly the 2:10 mark that threw me, at first, but it’s growing on me and I kinda like it – the accent notes on the guitar don’t line up with the drum...
