    Is this a Good Idea?

Grade as a MUSICIAN or as a site PARTICIPANT? Those are two different things. If you mean the former (graded as a musician) then I am steadfastly opposed to it. Learning to play guitar isn’t a video game and you don’t “level up.” It’s steady progress and breakthroughs and encouragement from...

This Is Why Learning Your Scales and Positions is Crucial!

Nice! Vibrato is SOLID. PS – No one would have noticed the wallpaper if you didn’t mention it 😉

The dang thing won't stay in tune

Neither. Les Pauls of all stripes are notorious for tuning problems on the G string. It has something to do with the angle of the headstock and the side-by-side tuning pegs, making the break over the nut a confluence of evil. What does that mean for you? GET THEE SOME NUT SAUCE. No, seriously...

Looks like I need to swap my 11rack for AXE

I don’t necessarily think he’s doing it as a “promo,” except that the guys at Fractal are working directly with him to build tones, and using the product in a video like this is a semi-endorsement. Fractal has a place where tones can be posted, including by major artists (Misha from Periphery...

Needing Help With Audio Gear For Video Recording

You bet! I work full time and have wife and kids (and now a band!) making pulls on my time, so scheduling is tight, but we can for sure work something out. Let me get a quicky video put together to make sure it does, for sure, work that way, then maybe we can do a Skype thing to walk through or...

Looks like I need to swap my 11rack for AXE

Slightly less power and processing, yes. Also the on-unit programming interface was DRASTICALLY improved, but I build presets in the app, not directly on the unit. I bought my 2XL+ a year ago, and I’m in no hurry to sell it for the 3. Only Syn or Cliff at Fractal would be able to say if @syn‘s...

Looks like I need to swap my 11rack for AXE

@andrew, it’s hardware, not software, and you would be amazed at how many bands and LEGENDARY guitarists use it, in the studio and on the road. https://www.fractalaudio.com/artists/ And then there’s the guys that use Kemper full time, like Trivium have for years...

Needing Help With Audio Gear For Video Recording

What program are you using to record? I just installed the free OBS Studio on several recommendations, and though I haven’t actually MADE a video yet, I have tinkered with it, and it just might be the ticket. It allows you to balance the two audio input sources separately (your webcam mic...

Looks like I need to swap my 11rack for AXE

Not quite, Andrew. AxeFX is a modeler. They’re COPYING what the Hellwins do into the unit. Then he doesn’t need amps or microphones anymore. Run the outs from the AxeFX right into the PA mixer, guaranteed same tone, night after night, without all the weight and complexity of tube amps and 4×12...

Looks like I need to swap my 11rack for AXE

Last tour was all Hellwin. The videos he’s posting are a result of Cliff and the Fractal guys helping him model the Hellwins and build tones out for the next tour, and perhaps future recordings. A lot of us *hope* he or they will share the tones, but that has not been confirmed.

    About the collab…

I’ve attempted to at least record a scratch, but the problem I run into with the app is that I can’t get the playback of the backing track to monitor into my headphones while I try to record. I will continue to experiment with it, but I think the bandhub app is still glitchy and new.

    Does anybody use PRS guitars?

I have a Les Paul, as well. Great guitar. Much heavier than the PRS, and not as purty, but also a damn fine and versatile instrument. There’s a REASON the Les Paul is such an iconic rock guitar. though Gibson has definitely had some quality issues in recent years.

    New lessons?

He’s building Axe-FX presets from his Hellwins; that’s already established.

    Does anybody use PRS guitars?

I did a little sound test on mine. I used just ONE AMP setting, and got everything else with volume/tone and pickup switches. It’s not crazy playing, just some noodling, but it will give you an idea the range a good PRS can cover. This is mine: https://i.imgur.com/ct1DhI8.jpg

A7x – Nightmare (Syn Gates Replaced EDIT)

Why did you replace him with Sarah Jessica Parker?

    Does anybody use PRS guitars?

PRS are kind of the Rolls Royce of major guitar manufacturers. I have a 30th anniversary core model, and it plays and sounds as amazing as it looks. But they are not for the budget-minded player. They are scary expensive. Their budget “SE” line are outstanding guitars with most of the same...

    Effects on Gunslinger Solo

It’s more subtle than typical, but he’s using a wah-wah pedal on that solo.

    Cakewalk

Honesty. It buys you a license to use the product you’ve already been using for 2 full versions, so if you bought now, you’d have Reaper 5 with all the updates, and Reaper 6 with all the updates, and then you’d need to buy again for version 7. If you’re wondering how long that is, I bought...

House of Syn clothing? Where Did It Go?

Agree, Josh. Between the two posts, it’s pretty clear they’re with Cliff at Fractal modeling his road Hellwins. I only hope when they’re done, they release ’em to the wild, along with @syn‘s personal presets. That would fucking rule.

    Cakewalk

It’s VERY bloated and resource-intense. Everything I’ve heard about the current version, though, free, indicates it otherwise has not changed much. Reaper is still the better choice, and you can continue to use it, full version, for free until you’re ready to pay the entirely-too-cheap price of...
