    Distortion question

A lot of it has to do with the amp youre using and the gain structure that it has. Vox isnt known for having a tight, agressive rock and metal tone. Vox makes GREAT amps and has a classic tone. Brian may from queen has pretty much used vox amps exclusively for his entire career and he has a...

    how do I create harmonies

There are a few “rules”, but the general idea is to use alternating 3rds and 6ths. Upload lile a 4 bar melody or more and I can harmonize it and show you what to do

    The Best Compression Pedals?

My advice is to buy quality. Never buy cheap, just save up for the stuff your ultimately going to be happy with. I always site a Ben Franklin quote- “The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten”. Thats being said, if you wanna buy some of the better...

    What are you working on?

Good stuff everyone! Anyone wanna chime in and help your fellow guitarists out? I’ll be uploading a video soon to hopefully help some of you guys out. I will unfortunately be out of commission for a few days though. Remember,we’re all here to bring each up! If you have any input or just want to...

    Stretching

I would say that the most important thing to focus on, #1, is making sure each note SOUNDS clear and strong. As guitarists, we focus so much on the physical and technical aspects for everything but the way to approach EVERYTHING is to let your ear decide. That being said, technique is important...

    Moving Past Beginner

Only you can really answer that. How comfortable are you with it? I would say that its definitely important to keep mlearning new material and moving forward. The major and minor scales are something you will continue to work on for a long time, so you dont have to only work on those things...

    Stretching

I should have clarified: The pressure on the neck is at the first joint of my thumb and that is in the middle of the neck or just slightly below the middle of the neck. You can kinda see my thumb creep up a little, so it looks a little deceptive.

    Show us your pedalboard

Kinda my whole messy rig corner, I ditched most of my pedals after getting an axe fx II and MFC-101. I still have a super overdrive, BB Preamp, Decimator, and BBE sonic maximizer for use with my Rivera Knucklehead tre, if I need it. View post on imgur.com

    Stretching

Here’s that video cody so you can kind of see where my hand is for the Tornado of souls solo. As for the really wide reaching part, my thumb is kinda close to the bottom part of the fretboard and my thumb is pointed towards the headstock. Hopefully this helps in some way-

    "Slow down software" [Question]

Another great one that is very simple and effective is “Transcribe!” That’s the one Ive been using for years. I also has a spectrum analysis which shows the notes and overtones being played in any given moment which helps if you cant decipher a chord or note.

    muting tremolo bridges with foam

Foam may push on the springs and throw you a little out of tune. You can buy these inserts that go inside the spring pretty cheap and they work great! https://www.axetremecreations.com/SpringNO-Tremolo-Silencers-Inserts

    Gypsy Jazz Player

Well, in my opinion Bireli Lagrene is the best to ever do it. He’s got perfect pitch and has been able to shred some gypsy jazz since he was like 12. Here’s Bireli at 14 I think-

To A7X and Syn gates Lets talk about what we want the next album to be like

Lol we should all just be happy with whatever they choose to put out. Bands start falling apart when they start playing what they think fans will like instead of playing the music thats in their hearts. The best music comes from musicians just having fun and not overthinking whether or not...

    Anyone else notice this?

If you have a chance, check out Alex Machacek. He’s an austrian guitarist that pretty much idolizes Holdsworth. He was my private instructor at MI. For that outside fusion stuff, the dude is a monster. It’s difficult for some people’s ears, but he definitely knows what he’s doing.

    Breaking bad habbits

Agreed. Im planning on recording a technique lesson soon that talks about something similar. People will always tell you that if you want good technique, to just play things slow and work your tempo up. But we’re shredders and just like Ricky Bobby, we wanna go fast! So I think words and the way...
