Okay, so I've been gearing up for my bike race this week, which happened yesterday, so today is the first time I've really touched a guitar in a few days. The first thing this song taught me is that at this exact tempo, my hand synchronization was terrible. I could play the part a lot easier and cleaner both FASTER and SLOWER, but at this tempo, I struggled with it. That means I'll probably be learning the whole song.

This tune is, like most modern Trivium, on a 7 string in Drop Ab, but the main riff is on the B string, so I just worked it out on a Drop Db guitar and went for it. This was fun, and I do think I will wind up learning the whole song to get my sync better at this tempo. The melody Beaulieu plays under the chorus is awesome, and I want to dig into that, among much else in the song. Good choice!

Finally got around to this, I struggled to get my alt picking up to speed so downpicked instead (still not quite fast enough which is why I didn't play along with the song). Because the intro is long, and basically the same riff repeated I did 2 reps each of the intro and verse riffs. Dropped a couple of clangers in the verse though.

Fun song to play, so I may continue with it, if for no other reason than working on my alt picking.
