Riff Page and Update

One of the reasons many may not be posting may be the content licence rules.

So far I've only seen Syn share IG posts on his own IG, nothing else seems to happen with it. The rules are basic. but I can imagine It may hold beginners back.

Hello my dear kittens,

First of all, I want to tell you all how amazed I am about the interaction on here. We're making friends, making music, making history, making jokes.

Some students I've had to issue warnings to, and I want you all to know how much I appreciate the fact that you all have respected my role here. I haven't had any sass back and that makes me feel happy. If I ever start to come off like a tyrant or unfair, please make sure you voice your opinion to me directly. I promise I won't spit acid in your face. I only do that at 5am when I get woken up.

Secondly: While I am amazed at the interaction on the forums and lesson discussions, the riff page is getting about 1% of that attention. Students are kicking ass on their originals, they're trying new things, and even offering guitar tricks and tips. But there's hardly any interaction there. One thing that helped me improve was constructive feedback. If a student can improve on their playing, tell them. After all, we're guitarists. Our playing needs to have as much attention as our questions and our mutual love for Nickelback. Right @Edward John and @Dominik Gräber ?

I'm guilty of this as well. Hell, there's so much content and interaction on here there's no way I can be as active on here as what I use to be. But I finally set time aside to check out the riff section and it saddened me it's not getting as much attention as the forum section.

I'm also happy to say that the etudes for the beginners are coming along great and hopefully the beginners get excited about them!

Its not that nobody has the balls its a respect thing...the longer youre here you will see there is none of the attitude here,we are all like family..here for a reason and take it seriously...not that we dont joke around we just dont down talk each other

no need to apologize lol. I totally get it. I watch videos sometimes and forget to hit the button (multitasking mom issues )

@Jak Angelescu so random comment. I’ve noticed this before but didn’t really pay attention to it. I use my phone a good bit for jumping on here real quick and I’ve noticed when I click the menu bar the “riffs” sections is kind of hidden and I have to scroll a bit to hit it correctly to open up. Not sure if this is any issue for others. But was just thinking maybe it’s a reason some aren’t seeing it. Especially the newer members. On the old version I didn’t have that issue with my phone but now I do. I know many people use their phone to access the website sooo...

I appreciate your insight! What's happening is check to the right of the word forums. See if a little arrow is pointing upwards. If it's pointing upwards, it means you have the entire category and all the sub categories of forums opened and it makes it a huge enormous long drop down category. If you click it, it should minimize everything to are all you see are the topics at hand such as forums, riffs, etc...
However, you may be on to something. On the 1st rendition of the school we had about 20 riffs being posted A-day. It definitely seems a little bit buried even still on this new version. I will bring it up with the team and thank you for your insight!

Perhaps just move it up so it sits between lessons and forums in the menu?

I know exactly what you’re talking about jak. I’m not sure if it’s just my web browser or what. Often times it is a short list but every so often when I log on it’s the long list even when I’ve not clicked anything.
I use an iPhone, and when it’s on the long list there’s this weird little bar on the bottom on the screen that almost completely hides the riffs button.I have to play tug of war with it to get it to where I can click on it lol.

Maybe it's not a bad idea to have a page with all riffs?
I saw someone just uploaded a video because they posted in the profile posts, but I wouldn't have noticed it on the riff page.

Tell me about it. To be Frank I'm over hearing excuses. I heard so many people upset they felt they couldn't put their riffs up because of all the shredders. I have made forum sections and the riff page like you said and it's practically collecting dust. Mounds of gold to those who have taken use of it. I have been spending a lot of time working on beginner etudes and I'm going to be spending more time recording them today. This is because people were upset that they said that the etudes were too difficult. If some of these beginners don't take those into account like I said it ends up becoming excuses at some point. You can't spoon-feed people and sometimes it seems like that's what people want

I also don't understand why anyone would get upset something is "too difficult", to me it's like that is a goal. Maybe right now you can't do it, but how good is it gonna feel when you finally can?! If we are never challenged we don't grow.
