Question on soloing

Hey guys. So I've been trying to better my soloing lately with a lot of Metallica songs. But what keeps throwing me off is technique wise, how do you skip between 2 strings rapidly? For example here I took the tabs I'm referencing for "Wherever I may roam". The highlighted portion. (about 4:50 into the song) demonstrates what's throwing me off. I can't figure out how I'm supposed to place my fingers on the fretboard to be able to play this portion. Nor can I figure out the picking technique used here.

If anyone would be so kind as to show me how you would play this, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Syn's Fingering for Nightmare Intro

Hey I am a new guitarist with a very tiny hand. I can play the intro great when sitting but when standing my hand is so small i can reach the note with my pinky even with my thumb all the way around the fret board. I am using Songsters tabs which might not be perfect but not too bad and it says to do the intro starting at the 12th fret of the D(not the low D string the High one aka string 4) string. Is my trouble simply that my hand is a bit small for this and I need to fgure it out on my own? Or is it a tablature mistake. I notice Syn and Zacky do a lot of sliding during live preformaces.

Putting the fun back into playing and breaking harmful mindsets

Hi guys, as many of you know over the past few months, I have been practicing my technique heavily and I am finally getting to the point where for the first time I am happy with my playing. It has come after a long time of frustration, triumphs and many ups and downs and I am so pleased that it has all paid off.

That being said, I feel it has come at a price.

I have been so hard on myself for pretty much the entire time I have been playing guitar. Always mentally putting myself down for not knowing any music theory, not being creative, only being able to play in 1 position of the major and minor scale etc. It has taken a toll and has made me think that despite the progress I have made in my technique, that I will never get to a place where I can say that I am the player I want to be.

I no longer feel like playing guitar is fun but more of a chore because I do it to get better at playing, not for enjoyment and I cant seem to break that mindset because I feel as though I still have far too much to learn on to be messing around and having fun. Its a really bad mindset and I honestly don't know how to break out of it so any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Mr Bungle in The Stage - B Side

Several fans have FILLED THE PATIENCE of the guys over the new album. 🫠 This insistence annoys me so much!
Man, when this album is done, this shit is done! It just like that.
Some are impatient and I honestly still haven't gotten over The Stage B side! 🤘😩✨
Seriously, how many times did you heard “Dose”? or Retrovertigo?! 🤯🥵 Bro, Mr Bungle is my favorite band, and my ANOTHER FAVORITE BAND recording one of their songs, it made me like AAAAAAAAA you know? 🥹🤏
And Runaway? Man, how I wish Zacky Vengeance would do vocals in the band again! 😩
What's your favorite The Stage - B Side?

  • Question
How would one go about getting an A7X style to my playing and writing?

I am a new guitar player with a knowledge in theroy(to a degree) and those things from other instruments. I want to have my own style obviously although want to get an A7X'Y feel. IF that makes sense. I dont quite understand how or when one should put certain parts of a song together. I.E I have several riffs that sound fairly Early to mid A7X'x although as soon as I finish playing one Idk what to do. Should I write a verse? If so what makes it not boring. This whole repition is ok to a certain mesure is new to me as before guitar I was and still am a classical musicain. Any help is much apreatciated!!

Guitar copier

Hi I am a new guitarist with musical background. I am going to be getting a Syn Custom S. I really like it and want to use it in a band me and my friend are forming. But dont want to feel as though Im a copy cat. I like the design and the custom look of it. I have looked into making my own guitar but cant quite get the whole idea of who to talk to about doing this. Also am on a restricted budget. Would I be a copy cat for using this guitar in preformances?

  • Question
Frustrated Beginner

So I've been working through strumming and chord changes, reviewing past lessons as needed. I fully admit I don't practice as much as I should because I don't have a good space to practice in/don't want my SO to listen in. Thus, I mostly practice on Saturday nights when he's not home. Anyway. Tonight, I decided to go into another room and try practicing. My SO suggested I sit on a folding chair to help with muting strings, so I gave that a try. I am still muting strings 😠😠😠! I feel like I've tried dropping my wrist, curling my fingers more (they won't curl much more), everything under the sun. And nothing. I don't know what else to do 😥. I thought getting a full size guitar would help but it didn't. I thought sitting in a better chair and droping my wrist and curling my fingers more would help but it didn't. I don't know what else to try. I know that my fingers won't curl anymore than they already do (I've tried), so it might be that I'm not cut out for guitar? I don't know what else to try and I don't want to bore you all with more videos of the same chords over and over. Changing between chords is hard, too, but I think that will come with practice. But I don't know what else to do about the muted strings. Nothing seems to work :(. I don't mean to sound whiny...I'm just venting some frustrations.

  • Question
Bad selector switch?

I recently bought a Syn Gates custom S and has been working fine up until a few days ago. The bridge pickup gets a really weak output, sometimes it can be shortly fixed by moving to the neck and back to the bridge but eventually it weakens out. I took it to GC and they told me it was the selector switch, although I’m not sure how much I trust the guy who told me that. Any possible fixes?

  • Question
Guitar What songs to play for intermediate player?

Heyyy everyone I'm kinda new in here but I'm really excited to be a part of this, I have been playing guitar for a little less than an year and I've always wondered what A7X songs are best for intermediate players, I have played Nightmare, Hail to the King except the last few seconds of the solo, Bat Country, Unholy Confessions, Scream except for the start of the solo, Seize the Day very recently , Afterlife except end of the solo and that's about it. Any ideas for more songs except these ones? Let me know what you think :)
