Can we post acoustic stuff in the riff section too?

Who ever said riffs don't come in acoustic form?

Overview of the Electric Guitar – Lesson 1

Yes, Ari is right. Unfortunately, the vendor we use for the video (SoundSlice) does not have an agreement to work in Indonesia, and some other countries. A VPN will be required in order to view them. This is out of our control.

    Paid membership?

None of the lessons are behind a pay wall. NONE of them. If you're seeing that, or having some other issue that makes it seem like it's a paid site, please let Alicia or I know which lesson and provide a screen shot, if you can. We will get with the IT folks and find out what the problem is...

    Music with duet lines

There is a lot of Dream Theater stuff where guitar and keys are harmonizing or synchronized, as well.

    Project "St. James"

    That came out awesome!

What’s your BIGGEST dream with music?

My dreams of being a rockstar are long gone. I took my shot, I have a lot of memories, and I made a lot of mistakes, but I'm pretty good with where I landed in life, and the idea of uprooting it all to go on tour and stuff is just not appealing to me anymore. So my goals are to continue on the...

    Schecter Avenger FR trouble

The retainer bar itself is not especially important, especially on a guitar with a Floyd Rose and a locking nut. I've actually removed it on both of my older Ibanez because it serves no purpose and interfered with the replacement truss rod cover I wanted to put on. It won't affect tuning at all...

Mac vs pc for music production

He's not entirely wrong about the Mac/PC discussion, but he doesn't necessarily get all the "why" correct. As far as performance, whether it be in audio production or anything else, I'll take a PC every time. Every time. The stability thing. I can explain the reasons. He touches on part of it...

    Finding information on a guitar

Ibanez Serials usually start with a letter to indicate what factory the guitar was made in. A few different sub-contracting manufacturers were using an 8-digit (no letter) serial number in 2000, but the specific factory cannot be determined from the serial itself - they just don't have the...

Food for thought about music production

I do not play drums, so when I record, I use EZDrummer 2. I always like it best when I turn the "humanization" all the way up. That's when it feels closest to real. I don't want it mega-quantized.

Difference Syn custom and Syn standard?

Bolt on or other is a matter of preference, but also a matter of how the heel is done. If it’s a classic square heel, man, those kinda suck. If it’s carved or tapered, it can really feel great.

THE REALITY OF MY SURROUNDINGS by Fishbone

The entirety of my exposure to Fishbone prior to today, and for no real reason, was a line in the Sacred Reich song "31 Flavors" that closes their excellent "The American Way" album. The song is about digging more than metal, and the line is "Prince, Fishbone, NWA, these are the things that I...

THE REALITY OF MY SURROUNDINGS by Fishbone

Dammit, this album is not on Apple Music for some reason. EVERY OTHER Fishbone album is there. Now I have to WORK for it.... Looks like you can listen here: ▶︎ The Reality of My Surroundings | Fishbone (bandcamp.com)

    Rick beato never disappoints.

It's not you. A lot of people have complained that Rick's "music theory basics" are not really aimed at people who are completely new to theory. I gave up on one of his videos like that. It just went in way too many directions way too quickly to follow. I'll watch this one and hope it's better.

    Getting It Off My Chest

Love you, Jak. Sorry I assumed you got sent to Social Media Jail again. Honest mistake. :) If you need anything, you know how to find me, otherwise I will leave you alone, as I hope everyone else does. Best to Holly, as well. For everyone else, I *do* want to add that anything about Syn, the...

Zacky talking a little bit about the new record

Every time I see "Arejay Hale," my brain says "Arin Ilejay." I hate that.

Just wanted to say thank you

I'm pumped for this, bud! I did my first demos on a Tascam TEAC144 4-track cassette recorder with a Roland TR707 drum machine and a bass guitar someone literally pulled out of a dumpster for me. My gear is certainly better now, but my KNOWLEDGE and TECHNIQUE is still largely mired "Back in the Day."

    String Gauge

I'd second the 10-52 for Drop C if you're used to 9-42s on a standard tuned guitar.
