    Dive bombs

So, in a nutshell (to follow on the video), the natural harmonics you find by picking and lightly touching the string over the 5th, 7th, and 12th frets actually occur all over the neck, the others are just more EXACT in where you have to touch them. The closer it is to the nut, the higher the...

    🥰A HUGE Milestone For Me!!!🥰

Jak is actually a millennial, the mortal enemy of the foul boomer. I, at just under 50, am Gen X, and we like to sit back and watch the boomers and the millennials fight like Springer guests and Maury guests. Or like this guy.

    Replacing Epiphone SG standard nut

I think in this case, XL is "extra lubed." Seriously. It's not extra-large. I put this exact one on my Les Paul and it's been excellent. Expect to file down the back/bottom to proper height for your action.

Still struggling with the Axe FX II

To my ear, the guitars are WAY too loud in that mix, but that may have just been to try and make your point. I *think* I hear what you mean, and I might suggest trying a different mic than the SM57, or at least changing the mic for one of your two tracks. I like the Royer MD421 for a modern rock...

Still struggling with the Axe FX II

I don't hear a problem - sounds good. What are you not liking about it?

Someone was asking about the first song people wrote a while back...

The drummer and other guitarist have a pretty good thing going with "Reality Suite." Here's their latest video. They're in Jersey. The bass player, also in Jersey, is an executive with Yahoo now, if I remember right. The singer is back in his hometown area of Buffalo, NY (8-10 hrs drive from...

    Syn's pick type?

He did the 2mm from 2006 to 2014. I used 2mm Jazz Stubbies for decades, starting around 1989 or so. I don't remember what I used before them. I'm currently trail-running .73 Ultex sharps. I will be sticking with the .73 and ultex. Not sure about standard or sharp yet.

Someone was asking about the first song people wrote a while back...

Actually, that was the singer. He wanted to be "different." Always sang barefoot, too. Didn't help. WRONG: Looked at the pic. In this one, it actually WAS the drummer behind the fence. Go figure.

What did you listen to ten years ago?

I have never even tried marijuana. I think I may have SEEN cocaine once in my life (in the bathroom of a shithole rock bar in Newark, NJ). Investment bankers are like that. No, I went straight.

What did you listen to ten years ago?

Oh, it wasn't healthy. Cold sweats and a ridiculously high heartbeat set in on me a few times in that job. I had some "days" that started at 6am Wednesday and didn't end until 11pm Thursday - literally non-stop. You start seeing things, blacking out for micro-sleeps. It's really bad for you, but...

Do the pros ever get frustrated?

Papa, literally LAST WEEK: "I quit twice this week. Not being a smart-ass. I literally set my guitar down and said what's the point - TWICE. Picked it back up this morning and was quite pleased. This is the life we've chosen."
  14. Ed Seith

Do the pros ever get frustrated?

Both of them have said as much at different times. Sometimes you need to either take a break for a few days, or shift gears to playing/learning something completely different to get your head back to calm. Anxiety and tension are the enemies of the guitarist trying to build technique.

What did you listen to ten years ago?

Whew. 2010. I was 40. It was the busiest year of my life at work. I had a lot of projects, multimillion dollar projects, riding on me. Most weeks were 80-90 hours, but it peaked with one week in June or July working between 125 and 130 hours. It was absolute hell. For 5 days, I had a hotel room...

A Big Collab (Lets do this)

Agreed. Most of the backing tracks Syn plays the etudes over a ridiculously simple things that allow for a lot of leeway.

A Big Collab (Lets do this)

I think 40 seconds is on the long side - daunting for the newer players to fill that much space. Equally daunting for the shredders to keep it that short, but DEAL WITH IT :-). Ailee is probably the best for video, if she's up for it. Filip might be a good choice for audio mixing if he's up...

Alright, Mr. West - the oldest thing on streaming is Cougar Bait from 2008. I think your fan club here needs a little taste of the West.
