Assuming YOU were "Brian West?" What was with the stage name? Is there a story? Love the gold record. That's awesome!

Not great. Huge crowd. It was at Birch Hill Night Club in Old Bridge, New Jersey, which is gone now (like so many of the best clubs from BACK IN THE DAY). It was packed, which meant around 2,500 people, but before the set, we got our asses handed to us by BOC's road crew. They set up their gear...

It was, but this demo was done very early, and opening for BOC was later; maybe two years later. This demo would have been done in mid-1994, and I think the BOC gig was mid-1996 maybe? Much foggier on the date of the gig than the demo, but there was some mileage in there.

    Syn's pick type?

As I was examining changing picks a few months ago, he and I chatted back and forth about it, and he does indeed use .73mm. He referred to .73 as the "family favorite" and he switched back to them in 2014/15. He preferred the varied dynamics it offered vs the thicker picks, and said "I can fake...

Oh, it's short now and I'm old and fat. The worst you could accuse me of is romanticizing ancient history. Also, while the hair reeled 'em in, the personality pushed 'em away!

Thanks, Cedric! Yeah, I did. On the first demo, I did EVERYTHING, and on the newer recording, I think I wound up doing ALL the guitars, but if not, the other guy did some rhythm guitars and I did all the lead stuff. Haven't listened to it in forever.

    Any good guitars out there?

Cheap is in the eye of the beholder of the wallet, so your mileage may vary, but Ids is spot-on - entry models from Ibanez and Schecter will likely be your best bang for the buck.

Someone was asking about the first song people wrote a while back...

So I had to do some digging, but I did digitize this some years ago from the original cassette tape. Actually, that might have been the second or third cassette tape. This song was written in probably somewhere between 1986 and 1988, mostly, and recorded in 1989 or 1990, at the latest. I did the...

    Feeling limited

@Dominik, I completely get it. I'm not much farther ahead than you. @Ids, I love you brother, but your theory knowledge is so next level that you might be too advanced to teach us mouth-breathing crayon-eaters. I have some thoughts, but I haven't been able to watch @Jak's video yet and I want to...
