    So Far Away Interlude

I was NOT expecting something that clean and well-played from someone calling himself a “beginner.” Tempo, touch, and feel were all outstanding.

    Synyster’s tone

It’s a high-gain mid-heavy tone. The Hellwin was based in large part on the 5150 Mk3, and that’s the amp used to emulate it in the AxeFX land.

LAST pieces of advice regarding new guitar

Hi Ben! Honestly, I’m unaware of “Drop B” being a typical tuning. Drop C is common, but below that is usually B standard, which is a baritone guitar, or 7 string. If you’re sticking with 6-stringers, look for a baritone. It will have a longer scale (frets spaced wider apart) that better...

I've Got a REALLY Exciting Idea!!

Planning on recording and posting something today, as a matter of fact. Was telling Jak last evening. But I *do* need reminders like this sometimes, so THANK YOU!

    Bridge Pickup Replacement

If it’s working and you’re following a wiring diagram, that part is probably correct. Bad solder joints might make it sound really thin.

    Spammers are back

Ran it through Google Translate. Ids, she has a personal message for you at the top: “Site Hacking Inquiries -> Telegram: @totaldb Toto Divy Sales Japan.” The rest of it is mostly the same, barely above gibberish. Fucking subhuman.

    Spammers are back

Hey @Ids, how’s that hearty shit sandwich taste? Holy crap, never seen a spammer respond directly to someone complaining about the spam. I gotta admit, that made me lol.

    Bridge Pickup Replacement

I assume other guitars sound good through the same setup? Because pickups are a lot less responsible for large-scale tone changes than you would think. They’re a bit more subtle. If you’re unhappy with tone overall, start with the amp settings.

Hey Guys! Could I Get Some Feedback on My Nightmare Solo?

Definitely getting there! That quick little downward sweep at ~:29 always gets me.

Help. I forgot how to riff!

Have the drummer (or a drum machine) doing a beat. Could be simple, could be “different.” Could be fast, could be slow. Decide and commit. And then just start jamming different things over it until something clicks and you find yourself coming back to it.

When you master metal and feel like starting over, start here.

Remember that feeling when you just started and everything sounded impossible? Welcome back.

    Bridge Pickup Replacement

Learn how to solder properly BEFORE you do the pickups. Get your soldering gun ahead of time and practice soldering two wires together. Follow instructions on that diligently, including tinning both sources, etc. There are lots of videos about it. A bad solder WILL negatively affect your tone in...

    Bridge Pickup Replacement

Yes, Kevin, the Ibanez Edge trems are Floyd Rose license. I actually like them quite a bit better than original Floyds.

    Bridge Pickup Replacement

“Trembucker” is really just a brand name. It’s a humbucker, and since it’s all magnetic, it’s not exactly precision about spacing. Yes, an F-spaced pickup will probably line up slightly better (I have 3 Ibanez, two with Edge tremolos), but it won’t make a noticeable difference in tone or volume...

    Restringing

There will usually be at least 4-6 inches of excess that you cut with snips, depending on the string and the headstock design (3+3, six on top, six on the bottom, etc). On the thickest string and the other wound strings, two full winds should be sufficient (assuming your guitar doesn’t have...
