    Hellwin Kemper profile

Considering the Hellwin is discontinued, and Syn has now moved over to the AxeFXIII, I doubt they’d have an issue with it. It *is* what the Kemper is for, and there are tons of models out there for similar amps. Considering that the Hellwin is now a “collectible,” in that they’re going to be...

For every Guitar lover out there…

Added ALL of those to my “watch later” playlist. Gonna hit them tomorrow. Thanks!

ANOTHER question for Syn or Papa Gates regarding weaknesses

Great question, and a KILLER answer from Papa. If you’ve watched my “baby pictures” video from the mid-90s, you can see that it was chock full of notes but glaringly lacking in anything musical. That’s something I continue to work on in my improv, and with my improv over Jak’s track, I think...

How do I start playing different styles?

Joe Bonamassa is a very “white rock” kind of blues that more rock listeners or players might identify better with than classic blues.

    Burnt out

Sometimes you have to take a few days or a week, or one day a week, or whatever works for you, and PLAY without PRACTICING. Jam through songs you know and love, reconnect with the MUSIC that drew you in in the first place.

What Is Everyone Working On/ Learning? 🤗

@alan – 4th song in the set. DeLeo uses a LOT of really colorful chords, and I’ve been learning a lot in that regard, and that one is one of the greats.

    Floyd Rose

Satriani’s “Lizard down the throat” is a nice Floyd trick. YouTube has demos direct from Joe. The bar presents a nice gentle vibrato if you have an easy touch. See Chris Isaak’s Wicked Game for a great demo of that. Satch has a LOT of great whammy techniques, as does Mr. Vai, and both offer...

What Is Everyone Working On/ Learning? 🤗

I’m breaking some technique back down to basics and taking it slow to overcome a plateau, so working on the first-level Syn Etudes for alternate and sweep picking. Decades ago I had learned Iron Maiden’s Phantom of the Opera and there’s a number of sections of triplets across the top two...

    Flying with a guitar

Do not check a musical instrument, unless you want it destroyed. In the US, it is law that they have to accommodate guitars in the passenger cabin, either in the overheads if there’s room, or in their storage near the front. Either use a hard case or a well-padded gig bag, and if you put it in...

Is it possible for me to sing?

Go practice and turn yourself into one!

Is it possible for me to sing?

All hope is not lost. Much like playing guitar, it takes real practice, listening back to what you’ve done, and working on improving it. Your voice itself isn’t bad, and you have a reasonable grasp on pitch, so it would be a matter of dedication and practice.

    Best guitar rig under 1500$

What Jake said. A used Fractal unit (An AX8 is even cheaper and would work wonders) and a Headrush powered monitor for volume. Versatility you couldn’t imagine with an ordinary amp.

    AC/DC tone?

Tone will be more of a feel thing – hard to peg a suggestion on a per-amp basis, but gain is WAY low for AC/DC. Barely enough to get slight crunch and breakup.
