I haven’t been diagnosed, but I’ve had symptoms in the past and pain in my wrists. I’ve found that wearing a wrist brace for a few days usually helps straighten things back out for awhile and doesn’t get in the way of playing too much. It was pretty quick to adjust to also when I need it.
There are just so many great solos! I can’t pick just one, but I love the feeling in Tonight the World Dies, The Wicked End has blown my mind since first listen, Paradigm, Sunny Disposition, second Heartbeat, it’s all so great!
@lenore I’m pretty sure Syn alternate picks the Scream solo. Or uses economy picking. One of the other, I know he doesn’t sweep it which blew my mind the first time I saw him do it!
I’ve found it more productive to just invest in more guitars and try to keep each one at its own tuning. Not every guitar has to be your best high-end model. Maybe have one or two of those for the tunings you use most. But I’ve got a guitar only for drop C/D standard tuning. I’ve got one a half...
Yeah! We are all students here and the best thing for anyone of any playing level is to just play with as many people as possible. When you collaborate with other musicians you pick up little bits of information and technique that you can’t get from a book. Mistakes are a blessing if you can...
Drop D tuning is just a common hard rock/heavy metal tuning. It gives a more easily accessible power chord shape, a lower bottom chord, opportunity to make very good use of pedal tones, and is easy to switch to from standard tuning.
I’m sorry if you actually believed that pass the gravy stuff was gonna be an actual song…. but I don’t know why anyone is surprised. They’re obviously deeper Musician’s than Thanksgiving condiments. Lol
I agree with the idea of lessons for solos, but I would like it to include the theory behind the solos. The chord structure and scales used would be inspiring and very educational!
I get similar pain with bar chords which has made me avoid them for years. I’ve recently been trying to use them more to expand my chord knowledge (I hate all B chords), would using a finger exerciser help strengthen the hand and eliminate the pain?
About the battery though… in my experience it is critical to use a quality battery. None of this dollar store bullshit. Those didn’t last too long for me lol
I’m gonna go ahead and say that I really don’t think Three Days Grace belong ranked with any of those others you mentioned. Children of Bodom are definitely a great choice. And so is Disturbed. But Three Days Grace, while having some great hits, are just too generic for me. The guitar just...
I did think about that, thrash as a solid genre has mostly come and gone. The elements are still there as you said, but to be strictly tied to the thrash metal genre is unnecessary at this point I think. So pretty much just general metal
With the announcement of Slayer planning to retire, it made me wonder… if there were to be a next “Big 4”, which artists would make it up? I can’t imagine it without A7X, but what are everyone else’s thoughts?
