Just want to thank all the community 🖤

Hi !
Never introduce myself here.
Sabrina, 38 years old (on the 17th). Frenchy ! So, sorry for my English 😁😁
I discover this application day after day and I'm so glad to meet all of you day after day...🖤🖤
I used to sing when I was younger, in a rock band but since my thyroid surgery, my voice is damaged ... I work day after day but it will not be like before ...
I don't trust myself so much to post any videos of me singing ... Maybe one day ...
Yesterday was my first webinar with Syn, Papa Gates, and all the staff members and thank you ! Thank you for giving us this time ! It was awesome 🖤🖤🖤🖤
Hope I'll be there for the next webinar!
See you soon 🙏🙏🙏🙏🤘🤘🤘🤘
Love you all 🖤🖤🖤🖤
And thanks again for being who you are and for being there 🖤🖤🖤🖤

Thank you for the webinar

Hello everyone, I want to say thank you to Synyster Gates, Papa Gates, the staff team and everyone for this great webinar ❤
It was my first webinar, so I was a little stressed because, for people who were at the stream, I wanted to ask my question about being stress how to control it and accept the mistakes but I wasn't sure if I should or if it was a dumb question 😅
I finally did and I had all the tips from everyone and of course Syn and PG
Thank you again for the tips and I hope I will stop being always stressed too many often since years
And of course out of this topic, it was amazing to see you all and I enjoyed the stream 😄

I can't wait for the next step

I won't forget : Synners are winners 🤘
See you soon later 😊

Saphyra (or Emma as you want XD)

A thank you to the community

After really enjoying myself in the chat during the webinar yesterday, I felt now was a good time to write down all these thoughts I've been walking around with.

Last Tuesday it had been three months since probably the most traumatic experience of my life. Over that period of time my mental health got absolutely put through the wringer. However, at the same time I've never felt as much love and support as I have over these last few months. There hasn't been a single day where I've felt lonely or that I had no one to talk to.

And for that I wanna thank the Synner community. I found an amazing group of friends through this site, but on top of that I've had people I rarely interacted with reach out to me and check in on me. The latter is I think a real testament to strength of this place.

I think it's absolutely incredible that the site has gotten to a point where everyone is welcomed, feels free to ask questions and just unapologetically be themselves. I've loved watching streams on SynTV and just interacting with people in chat and seeing people do the same on my streams. There's no cliques, no barrier to interact with anyone and there have been some amazing creative ideas popping up.

So yeah, this is my thanks to the Synner community. Keep being this awesome and I honestly can't wait to see what else is coming ❤️

am new, am Deformance

Hi Synners,

Following Andy's post about his 1/1 redeem, I thought it was only fitting to introduce myself as well. Big thanks to @Radu-Cristian Perde for helping me out here. While I may be a familiar name to some of you here who frequent the A7X Discord, I'll introduce myself to those that have no idea. I'm "Deformance" or "Def"/"Deffy", a 26-year-old civil engineer from the Netherlands, and I've been playing the guitar ever since I was 12 years old. Over the course of the last six and a half months, I've been able to contribute my skills to the guys by helping them run their Discord server for which I was brought on as a moderator in August of 2021 and where, more recently, I was promoted to an administrator. Prior to Avenged, I've worked with or still work with artists such as Trivium, King Diamond, While She Sleeps and more, for which I mostly provide community control services and tech support wherever applicable.

My start on the instrument coincided with the time when I found Avenged Sevenfold around November of 2007 because "Almost Easy" was featured on Need For Speed: Pro Street, oh the memories :D. You can say they're pretty much the band that inspired and taught me how to play. Over the years, I've been on and off with the instrument in terms of thorough practise but it has always been a key part of me. There has rarely been a period longer than two/three days where I wouldn't have picked up the instrument and just jammed and/or played a few songs. It's been a wild ride and now here we are. I've been incredibly lucky and fortunate to be able to get my hands on Syn's 1/1 NFT called "Hobo". I can't wait to dive into all Synner has to offer and make my way around the guitar lessons. I'm set to relearn how to play because I feel I lack some fundamentals that keep me from progressing even further, so that will be the primary goal for me on here this year.

Lastly, I'd just like to share what guitars I own because I like 'em;
  • Aristides H/07 Custom | Triple Marble Fade 7-string
  • Epiphone Les Paul Custom Matt Heafy Signature Model | Black 6-string
  • Epiphone Les Paul Custom Matt Heafy Signature Model | Black 7-string
  • Gibson Explorer 7-string, previously owned by Matt Heafy | White
I have no thought-provoking question to ask you all, so I'll keep the ending short.
I'm excited and glad to be a part of this community. Much love.

- Def 🤘

Life

Hello everyone! I hope you all are well and staying safe in these times of uncertainty. I'm just making this to see how you are all doing and seeing if anyone needs to talk or vent any stress. ( :
I was thinking about starting a live stream for everyone to just get to know some of you better! (Absolutely not to show off some guitar skilzz)
Anyway, Hopefully everyone will be able to say hey and maybe get Syn and Papa G. on also haha. Also, leave some suggestions on topics you might be interested in discussing!
Unfortunately I haven't been on here that much recently because of a lot of family emergencies and stress and anxiety. Let's pray for those in Ukraine as I have a sister who lives there with her family.
Thank you all so much for being here for me and everyone else and again I hope you are all well and safe.
Let me know your thoughts and have a wonderful day : )

P.S. If you want to follow me on instagram Its - ian_rambo_boles . ( :

  • Question
Rhythm

After doing a few lessons, and looking a head i see an extensive and great catalogue of lead guitar things, but is there anything on rhythm? there is lessons on these super fast amazing solos..but are their lessons on what the guy in the background is doing?? i went through the barre chord info and there wasn't anything on using E or A to drone on, or accented palm mutes? maybe i just need to bide my time

Can't believe my luck...

What's happening Synners!!!!

Some of you might know me as Django, and I've just redeemed my Legend+ status as part of my 1/1 perks with my most favourite NFT ever, Explorer.

I cannot wait to delve into this community and get to know some of you, and most importantly LEARN from all of you! I've played guitar for almost two years. I have never practiced guitar. And that's about to change.

A little about me is that I'm a chef, but I'm also a fully qualified teacher of English in further education. So if anyone needs any help with anything related to that (you could be a budding music teacher yourself in search of lesson plans and materials, or a stressed out student looking for someone to proof read your assignments) feel free to drop me a message and I'll happily help you out. All I ask in exchange is a pic of your guitars 😉.

So happy and can't wait to see where this goes.

Fixing an acoustic guitar neck

I came across this article about fixing the neck on an acoustic guitar without a truss rod. Basically they just heat the neck and keep it straight. It seems simple. What could go wrong?! 😅
Does anyone have experience with this?

The video seems easier. Login to view embedded media

Marshall CODE 25 Users

Hey Synners! I’ve got a Marshall Code 25 watt amp and I was wondering if you could add pedals while on clean channels. I’m asking this because this is the only Marshall amp I own currently and I wanted to add some effects to that genuine Marshall tone. I don’t see an effects in and out but there is an F/C input for foot switch. If you can add pedals, does anybody have any suggestions that pair well?

Captain Ed's AOTM February 2022: Pink Floyd - The Wall

By this point, you’ve all heard Comfortably Numb, the classic rock song with what is often regarded as the best blues-rock solo of all time, and the blistering coda, where a fiery David Gilmour peels paint from walls with his multi-million dollar black Stratocaster. Hell, even modern blues man Eric Gales, on his new album The Crown, takes his shot at Gilmour’s coda on “Too Close to the Fire” (WELL worth your time to listen to – Gales is pure fire!)

Many of you have probably also heard the childrens’ choir demanding that “We don’t need no education” in Another Brick in the Wall, Pt 2.

But “The Wall” is something else entirely. Released in late 1979 in the long shadow of sales behemoth Dark Side of the Moon (45 million sold, and counting, Dark Side remained on the Billboard charts for 741 weeks, from it’s release in 1973 all the way until 1988), The Wall is singer, bass player, and songwriter Roger Waters’ invitation into a severely fractured mind, his own (with a little of former Pink Floyd vocalist Syd Barrett added in). Broken at a young age by the loss of a father he barely knew in World War II, the album tells the internalized story of a man loosely based on Waters numbing himself and building a wall around his mind and soul to isolate from an increasingly painful and fearful existence.

He becomes a famous musician, embraces fascism, drugs and excess in a continuing effort to suppress that which would break him, until it cannot be contained any longer.

It is a theatrical album, one of the early blueprints for a concept album, with many repeating musical and lyrical themes, short vignettes, and performances that are more acting than singing. You can hear where this album was a huge influence on later bands like Queensryche and Dream Theater.

And it is absolute fucking brilliance.

I knew Another Brick in the Wall, Pt 2 from being played on the radio near-constantly in 1980, when I was a child, and I picked up Floyd’s live album Delicate Sound of Thunder as one of my very first CDs, spurred on by a transcription of Comfortably Numb in a guitar magazine, with the accompanying story waxing for days about its brilliance, but I didn’t consider The Wall in it’s entirety until the early 90s.

I was working construction for my father’s company at the time, and there was always a boom box or car stereo in the truck, or something on which I could pop a home-made cassette (recorded from the double CD I had at home), and I listened to it on repeat endlessly for like a year and a half.

There’s a track or two I don’t really care for here (“Bring the Boys Back Home” comes to mind), but they’re all an important part of the whole. Every minute of this album is an important part of the story – another brick in the wall that must eventually fall.

The Wall is less accessible than a lot of the Floyd’s other work, but it is worth every minute of the time you put into it, listening to and dissecting the music as well as the lyrics, the framework, the story. It is as close to an autobiography in concept album form as we’re ever likely to see, and it’s bold, raw, and brave, and a drawn out, drug-induced therapy session for a staggeringly broken man who finally finds the path to his own recovery.

And with all that, it STILL managed to sell over 30 million copies.

It’s over 80 minutes long, so I’m sorry about doing that again, but it is well worth your time, for the story, the brilliant writing of Roger Waters, the fiery playing of David Gilmour, and just… Everything. What an album!

Tough times

A couple months ago I posted “Connections,” where I asked if anyone had an A7x song that described their current state of mind, this is sort of a follow-up.
If anyone knows the meaning behind “Snuff” by Slipknot, Corey Taylor’s description of the song is how I would describe my life, word for word. It’s kinda depressing.
Here’s the quote, if anyone wants to read it:
"This is the slow one. It's another personal one. Again, not naming names, it's about someone who helped me through a lot and I thought she felt the same way that I did and then she really let me down. At the same time, it was good that she did, because it was that final push to me figuring out myself.” -Corey Taylor

Floyd rose set-up

Hello my fellow synners.I am having some technical difficulties with my schecter synyster custom. I got my guitar almost 2 months ago and everything was great, until I changed my string gauge to 10-52. At the moment I didin’t know anything about the changes this could make. After a while, the action raised(at least that’s wjat I think) and I am starting to have some fret buzz. I tried adjusting the truss rod and the action, but I might have just made the truss rod worse, As I didn’t really know if I needed to tighten it or loosen it. Could you please help me learn how to fix my floyd rose and maintain it this way? I am open to anything, from a piece of advice to a video call or something. Thank you in advance

Building A Guitar (In Blender) - Thursday February 24th 3pm EST / 8pm GMT

Howdy y'all,

Just wanted to let you guys know that I'll be back from my mini hiatus from streaming this Thursday. I'm going to (attempt) to make a guitar in Blender (the software not the kitchen device..) and meanwhile just talk about my 'musical' journey of picking up and dropping a dozen different instruments before returning to the guitar during the pandemic.
I of course very much would love it if you join in on this conversation, bring your own experiences/questions/insights on the struggle of learning a musical instrument.

Hope to see you all then!

Remy’s Workshop Guitar Build

For those who missed my first stream last Friday, and those who did join and hang out, here’s a little update! I’m starting this discussion to post pictures / updates of the build process as I can’t do the entire prep and paint process in one stream.
So not a whole lot has been done since my stream, but I do have the body sanded smooth and ready for a coat of clear coat! I have a pretty good idea of what I’m doing now design wise! I was hesitant to have a wood finish under my transparent paint as the bare wooden body is very porous and would soak up the water based paint and I didn’t think it would look very nice. My work around for this is I’m going to spray multiple coats of clear coat so the wood will soak that up, and then it will harden! I’ll be able to sand it smooth then and apply the water based paint!
For the final product, you’ll have to stay tuned and watch my next stream!
