Beginner Chord Question

Whenever I come into the school for my lesson, I run through the chords I've learned so far and practice each one. Any tips for smoother transitions between chords? I start with Em and work through Em, G, E major, and Am...and I really clunk going from Em to Am (you'd think that'd be easy!). Other than practice, practice, practice, haha, any other tips to make chord changes easier?

How to shred?

Hi , I have been playing guitar for almost 2 years now but I have learned online so I haven't gotten that good at guitar. I want to learn from the beginning so I can get good at the basics first. So I'm doing all the lessons in this app in order. My goal is to become a shredder but I'm not sure what I should learn so I get better at shredding. Can you guys suggest what I should practice to be able to shred and play really fast solos? My favourite guitarists are John Petrucci, Synyster Gates , Jason Richardson , Nik Nocturnal and the guitarists from Archspire Dean and Tobi. I want to play these artists' songs. Should I make a practice routine? If yes, what things should I add in it?

New Student

Hi my name is Terelle. I started playing guitar when I was in High School. I then moved to the Bass guitar and played that for two years versus playing guitar for a year. I took a long break but would always watch SRV, Dimebag, Syn, etc. I missed playing and really wanted to revitalize something I loved doing. Really looking forward to learning and growing with you guys.

(Beginner) Finger touching multiple strings

Hi,
This is a real beginner question but I was wondering : Is it a bad thing if my finger (often the pinky) touches multiples strings when I want to play a single note. I'm not talking about chords but for example, when I'm doing a pentatonic scale, my pinky often touches the string under the one that I'm playing. Since I don't find informations on that, I don't know if I need to stretch my hand or if it is just normal.
Thank you for your help and sorry for my english !

Dont forget you can alter playback speed on YouTube

Especially if youre someone like me who doesnt utilize the metronome as much as they should, if youre struggling with a riff or passage you can alter the youtube playback speed to half speed or so to get it under your fingers and move up a bit from there to give you the full backing track for timekeeping and tempo. Hope this helps someone learn something fun

Synner Presents - Andrei Moraru: Introduction to Reaper!

Hello everyone!

I'd like to announce today the first livestream of Synner Presents featuring one of our long time member @Andrei Moraru who wanted to kickstart things by doing an intro to the DAW Reaper.

My project(7).jpg

Reaper is one of the most used and accessible recording software out there and since I know a lot of people are looking to get into recording, I was very happy when Andrei came to me with his idea. He will be leading a presentation of the DAW from the very beginning by starting with how to even download and install it, how to create a new project, the configurations, how to use FX with the tracks, etc..

The livestream will be this Saturday April 2nd at 10h (PST)/13h (EST)/19h (CET)!

He'll see you all in the chat so come hangout and don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions!

Important PSA for All Tube Amp Lovers

Hey everyone! As a lover of all things vacuum tube myself, I know a lot of people here will really benefit from this information as well, and since I deal with this daily as my job I thought it important to give everyone here a heads-up that will be extremely important.

We all collectively lost access to replacement tubes this week for the foreseeable future.

As we're all well aware of the destructive mess currently ongoing in Europe, we guitarists are a niche group directly affected. Save from JJ's, the vast majority of the world's tubes come from Russian factories. Russia sanctioned over 200 exports as a result of this conflict, and amp tubes are one of them. Additionally, China's singular tube factory is more or less MIA currently. That really only leaves JJ's out of Slovakia to now shoulder the demand of the entire vacuum tube market. JJ is going to have an extremely difficult time matching this astronomical demand increase. Some may get lucky with a shipment here or there, and I'm not really one for doom-saying things, but I would not be surprised if the next possible tube change on our amps doesn't happen before 2023.

So, treat your tube amps a bit extra carefully. If you have to play a gig, consider using a modeller and save the good stuff for your playing at home where you don't have to put as much strain on your amp.
