So, Im thinking about buying a synyster standard.

as the title says, im thinking about buying a standard, its a used 2012 but its a really good deal, little over 430 dollars with a case awell. But i dont like the fretboard cause its rosewood i think and i prefer the look of the ebony fretboards and it has the hb108 detonators instead of the invaders and im not sure if theres that much of a difference, and also its got a floyd rose special which i think all standards do and ive watched some reviews and looked around and it seems alot of people dont like them cause after a while they get bad from wear and tear and ive heard that the whammy bar gets loose eventually. but ive also seen some few good reviews so im really not sure if i should wait and see if i can find a custom/custom s, i kind of want a sustaniac cause im a really big fan of so far away and i would love to be able to learn the solo. any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Life is But a Dream

Okay, so by now, most of you have heard Nobody and We Love You. A few more have heard/seen a live performance of Game Over, and a small handful were in Vegas with us this weekend and have heard the whole album. I'm gonna share some thoughts without getting too deep into it because some of it should be a surprise and no one wants these kinds of things spoiled or ruined for them.

First impression: Adventurous. They've been talking like they didn't care much if the album had any hits, that it was important for them to embrace a vision with no limits and go for it. They did. You thought ALPOH was stepping outside the lines? This beats the line with bricks and then somehow manages to find a way to screw it. There is stuff on this album that you will struggle to accept is our Avenged Sevenfold. There's a lot of piano (all played by Syn) and almost no keyboards - what will sound like keys is Syn with an amp, a table full of pedals, and a mad-scientist brain. He said it literally took him like 4 months of 12-hour days to translate all these tones into his AxeFX for touring.

There are places where everybody has a chance to shine. Brooks is on fire. What he plays under the solo in Mattel might be my favorite bit of his playing on the disc. Not because it's the most technically impressive (it's not), but it is really creative (to me) and fits perfectly under Syn's solo. Despite lots of places where Matt has heavy effect on his voice, it's not to "hide weakness" or anything. He shows loud and clear that he has full command of his voice and probably in a much wider tonal palette than he used to have, and he carried it live, too. Johnny gets to play around more than I think he ever has, and when I saw him after the show, I told him I was looking forward to seeing what kind of dancing he was gonna do while funking it up in (O)rdinary and he grinned ear to ear and came at me with a fist bump. He's grown a LOT as a player, but yeah, he's still short.

The song "Life is But a Dream" is not an "album closing epic progfest." I won't say more, but whatever you think it might be, you are wrong. I guaranfuckingtee it.

"Cosmic" will be the favorite for many, I expect. In feel and tone, it hews closest to The Stage, has beautiful lyrics, and possibly the best (3-part!) Syn solo ever. This solo is the one people are going to be killing themselves to cover first.

It is a broad album with a huge slate of influences. They love to cite Kanye as the biggest influence, but I heard a lot of other stuff, and when I looked through what Kanye's influences were, I got a better sense of it - to me, there's a lot of 70s style influencing it. Everything from Yes, Kansas and old Rush to ELO, the Beach Boys and Parliament - all filtered through Kanye's lens. No, it doesn't SOUND like a 70s record (or Yeezy), but to an old guy like me, it FEELS like one, in that back then, bands were more interested in throwing their fans a curveball and considering genre as "more like guidelines than actual rules" (Thx Capt Barbossa). On this record, the band is throwing a massive "FUCK OFF" to sub-sub-genre devotees and purists. You see some of that in what you've heard already, but they keep going.

If your idea of a good record is PURE METULZ like Metallica's 72 Seasons, you might be disappointed in some of this. But if you're Bilbo at heart and want to go on an adventure, this is your Precious.

2023 NOBODY Tour — M&G availability? Hang and Jam like 2018 Syn??

Well wouldn’t you know , got New York MSG tickets even though requires flying in from Michigan — and new locations announced today including my local Pine Knob Amphitheater! Really hoping the A7X Meet and Greets can happen and if Syn wants to do Hang and Jam well we can go for that again . Any ideas ? Thx

Deathbats Club

So I recently started looking into the Deathbats Club and was wondering if theres anyone here who has experience with NFTs that can maybe help me better understand the concept and what I could use it for....aside from the cool perks that come with some of the deathbats...what is the personal advantage?...and what could I use my deathbat for if I had one? Shoot me a message if you'd like to discuss. :)

Any Guitarists that play Live, How long does it take to feel comfortable on stage?

So I started a small band with some of my friends and obviously we chose to play in our small school's talent show. The unfortunate part of going to a small school is they don't tend to do things "by the books" so we were rushed in at the very end to set up without a soundcheck and resulted in a pretty shitty performance, but it could have gone so much worse. I am honestly not disappointed with how it turned out but I feel my nervousness contributed to a bunch of mistakes. So my question to any guitarists that have more experience on stage, how long does it take for "stage fright" to go away or at least die down some?

Trying to diagnose the buzz/hum/ground noise

Hey i gotta slight buzz/hum coming from my Dean ml dimebag tribute guitar. i just put a seymour duncan dimebucker pickup in the bridge. all my grounds and solder joints look fine and i have continuity all over the guitar... when i touch the metal on the toggle switch, the jack input, the bridge and strings and the neck pickup the buzz/hum goes away.. i replaced the pot and resoldered it again for that pick up and still get buzz.. any ideas? I have tested my 2 other guitars on the same amp and patch chord to make sure they arent the issue aswell.. Im kinda stumped now lol. any help is greatly appreciated
should add that the noise does get louder when i touch the pickup i installed or if i touch the height adjustment screws for the pickup but it gets quieter if i touch the height adjustment screws on the neck pickup (stock i didnt change neck pickup the stock pickup has a metal baseplate but the new dimebucker the screws go into a plastic baseplate) but if i touch the strings the noise goes away then i can touch the pick up i get no noise... ive taped any piece of wire that cud possibly touch anything to ground out aswell. im stumped lol
the hum/buzz/noise disapears when you turn the volume pot to zero or when you turn the tone down to zero...
Any ideas anyone? :D lol thanks in advance

MY BEAUTIFUL DARK TWISTED FANTASY by Kanye West

:syngates:Yo Family! This months #AOTM is very special to me because I believe that you will learn so much from this album. MBDTF by the eccentric Kanye West is a clinic on songwriting, arrangement, dynamic, the eclectic, performance, and mixing.

I don’t expect all of you to be thrilled about this rec but this album and this artist has elongated my bands career by inspiring us to create when it felt like we had no more to say.

I have to be honest, hearing someone shred or play a rad riff on the guitar no longer inspires me to pick up mine. Over the last decade I have made it my life’s work to go through the YouTube rabbit hole to source new techniques, equipment, and beyond. I’ve done this to help create the world’s greatest guitar school. I also use these techniques and tricks in solos and I feel that it gives me an edge so, win win.

Today, what compels me to write music and play the guitar, is when I hear someone make music sound like nothing I’ve ever heard before. And to do it with master craftsmanship is the icing.

Kanye delivers on all fronts with this heavy hitter. Dark Fantasy opens this brilliant body of work with a beautifully arranged pop gospel that has so much depth in tone and texture. Then we settle in with a classic R&B guitar theme with Gorgeous and we are off

So I spent a lot of time in deliberation with @Jamie London trying to decide between this one and his album Ye. If you are inspired by this first record, please check out Ye. It might not be his best album ever but Ghost Town is my fav track he’s ever written and the dynamic throughout the entire record is like nothing I’ve ever witnessed.

So give em a listen and lemme know what you think.

All my love,

SYN

Put your food minds to the test and tell me your ideas and especially a avenged sevenfold ice cream
