Fermi Paradox - the subject, not the song

Just read this article that hypothesizes a solution to the paradox itself, and I thought perhaps some of the more science-minded fans might find it interesting. Especially since, with the lessons down, there's not a ton going on here.

Feel free to discuss!

Need Help Finding A Melody I Heard In A Dream

Hey everyone! I had this really awesome dream of this band playing a song that sounded kind of almost like a group of older men playing a good ol' fashioned country song. There were a lot of harmonies, and I HEARD (and hear) the melody and even the lyrics. It was so pretty and I'm trying to figure out the melody on guitar but everything sounds wrong and I end up changing my notes when I try to find it on guitar.

The notes don't change very much. It's a slow melody. Does anyone have any tips for figuring stuff out like this? Thanks!

Chris D, Hoping to be advance in 2 years, will see.... any advice for a noobs who started a few weeks.

Hi, I'm Chris, I'm 28 and started playing the guitar the past few weeks (Acoustic and Electric). Recently finished grad school in cybersecurity and made a realization that college took a lot of years of my life. I also play a popular sport in NYC call handball, but my body is slowly catching up and trying to find something new I can get good at and enjoy myself. I like music and I choose the guitar as a new hobby where I can play solos by myself. Not only that, but I was really inspired by the guitar from seeing people on YouTube playing my favorite anime songs and games. Then as a journey to other songs, I started found song genre base on my parent's Haitian culture, Kompa. So many intresting solos that I created a playlist called, "Songs I NEED TO PLAY", lol. Currently, I have a private teacher every week and using self-taught material like Justin guitar, guitarsage, NYCguitarschool to practice every day, and I'm loving it. Got any cool recommendation can experts provide me that beginner should be working on the level up faster, lol., I'm all ears. Do you think it's doable, or have you seen people you know started becoming the best in a short amount and how long, just need some positive motivation? I've heard from sources that you can get into advance in 6 months, 2 years, 1 years, very subjective, your thoughts.? Thanks for the cringe introduction, lol.

Getting back to it!

Hello all! I put my guitar down for the longest time. Then I ran across Syns videos and it has inspired me to pick them up again! I got really frustrated trying to figure out scales a couple years ago. Hoping now that I'm a bit older and more disciplined that I can get back into it. I was thinking of just starting from scratch completely, back to the begginer videos. Any advice for a returning player?

Dealing with anxiety and lack of motivation

Hi to all synners, hope that you staying well.

I have been playing guitar about 8 years, had released few songs as a solo artist last year, just not to write it in the desk, and to learn to master tracks, keep myself in line, etc etc.

For the latest year I have been personally experiencing complete lack of the joy from playing guitar. Worst feelings are coming when you are writing a new riff/song/melody, and just lose it because you don't want it anymore, it seems to be bad or absolutely alien to me, but everyone like "just continue, it's alright", but that's no go, a dead end. But I feel that I can't simply put the guitar in the bag, closet and forget it. And everytime it's absolutely the same. Don't want to learn anyone songs, don't want to do my music, feeling fake... It has never been my job, always a hobby, but how can it be kept, when it keeps disappointing?

I've talked to some fellow musicians to start something together, came motivated from the meeting, and all of the sudden noone is willing to do anything, and it also kills me.
If somebody can share a way of how to deal with this feelings, maybe how you overcame yours, that would be either helpful, or show that it'll pass, I wasn't alone, it's doable.

Cheers

Guitar CAGED question

Hey!
I was practicing the CAGED chord shapes again last night and focus trying to repeat them but starting with different shapes to get a better grasp.
It was fine when I started with open C but when I started with the F chord ( E shape barred ) and moved to the D then tried the C again, it didn't work.
My guitar wasn't tuned well and didn't spend more time on it. Later I'll try it again but was wondering if I'm doing something wrong.
I thought about going in reverse, I think it was EDGAC, do I do that?

Any tips or things too add is also welcome for sure.

Thanks in advance!

  • Question
theory behind syn's solos

hello everyone i ve been playing live gigs as solo guitarist for a not really long while as a self taught, i can apply the most main guitar theory basics-inters to my improv or written solos live but i dont really have a great knowladge of the really advanced guitar theory material and i want to apply fast shred licks like syn's iconic licks. i dont have any problem with the speed i can practice for 2-3 days max and play his solos as long as i have tabs but i want to apply these mostly to my improv solos and i cant figure out the theory behind his overall solos or licks with my analysis alone like what scales he use and what type of chord progressions behind it makes them sound perfect. Can anyone with a good grasp on these matters help me out with the example of Scream solo ?

🥂 🎆 Jamie London is getting a tad older 🎆 🥂

Good day everyone.

Today's a special day; it's the birthday of our very own @Jamie London !!

For those who don't know, he is part of the Synner team and has been in the lead of all our social medias. He does a killer job over there and has been an integral part of our successes, most notably us reaching 10k followers on IG. He has always been integral to the team and the effort to make Synner as great as possible.

Moreover, he's also my co-host on Two Fancy Dudes and most importantly, a very good friend. Please join me in wishing him the happiest of birthdays.

You may be turning 30 but I'm glad that at heart, you are still as immature as I am and you will laugh at the same bad jokes as I do!

Cheers mate 🥂

  • Question
Moving on stage

So I have a band, we are doing pretty good, we have like 6 concerts only one on a big open stage. My problem is that I am a very shy person and I can't really manifest on stage especially while playing guitar. We play metal so it is kinda required to set up the atmosphere. I don't know what to do or how to get overy shyness, like in my mind every thing I can think of to do on stage looks cringe

  • Question
Playing guitar recently

I've been playing guitar for a while, and I've only started with power chords back in March of this year. I've been loving playing along with songs that I like for the past 2 weeks (I've mostly focused on practicing certain techniques without playing, so I'm implementing more playing time now). I've been playing Dammit by blink-182 and I've slowed it down in my DAW to about 40BPM. For some reason, I choke when it comes to palm muting after the intro to the first verse, and I seem to have an issue where there's a noticeable gap in between shifting up from the C power chord to the G power chord, unlike the record. What can I do to make that shift sound more smooth? Should I slow the song down even more than that? What could I be doing better?
