I can’t give you anything but love - Etude
Posted this twice because I figured it fits in both tutorials and jazz. Here’s an etude I wrote over one chorus of an old standard. The goal of this etude was to try to write lines that were breaking out of the fretboard shapes I felt too stuck in, to focus on triplets, focus on altered lines/tritone substitutions, and to try get any bebopish phrasing that I hopefully may have absorbed from listening to Charlie Parker that month. There’s a video of Syn improvising over the same standard on Instagram. Here’s the tab. Follow me on Instagram too! https://www.soundslice.com/slices/SdgVc/?from=search

It took me a while to make this video, but here it is. I finally know the arpeggios within every position of the major scale but I still have a lot to learn and practice about arpeggios
I wanted to out it on instagram but than me overbending the half step bend made me cry a little inside(just kidding I was sobbing in a corner actually 🤪). Effectively for the one week challenge I figured I could finally dive into some of the neo-classical stuff I love but never play and Marty Frietman and Jason Becker in particular. For this week I decided to do Jason Becker's solo at the beginning of Jewel by Marty Friedman.
I was so excited about this that I had to share it separately! You guys know I struggle most with timing and rhythm. Here you see me literally picking up my guitar for the first time that day. No edit whatsoever, just the raw take of me recording to a metronome and backing track in Reaper!
Another year, another take! Really happy with my tone here, although some notes are still not the cleanest. Thanks to @[13676:@Radu-Cristian Perde] for helping me with the string section! Fun Fact: My 2019 version was released exactly on this day last year :D
Covering one of my favorite metal songs🔥 I love it🤟🏼🎸
Hey y’all ! I have started the #oneweekguitarchallenge over on Instagram but I think we could do it here as well !!! The premise is to chose a song, riff, etc that you have always wanted to learn. Upload a video of yourself playing it the first day learning it and then a week later ! I know often times we do not see the small progress we make and this is an opportunity to do such ! A lot can change in just a short week ! I had the idea today when I made the challenge for myself. I had reached a plateau on a few things I’m trying to learn and got discouraged. We all have been there. So join in if you want ! Post here and on the gram and use the hashtag ! 😃
Definitely "Livin' on a prayer" seeing my dream guitar come true, what more have one in my hands :) Thank you Syn & Schecter!
Ending to a song of mine (first song ever written by me :)
So I worked on the one-dimensioned riff I posted earlier (and couldn't figure out how to delete), so I felt pressured to post this here.
Tried to cover the solo from danger line :) Hope you enjoy

Normal

Another one of my original jazz fusion compositions. I hope some of you enjoy it!

Anastasia

It's a bit sloppy at some points but here's me playing anastasia
O’ Christmas Tree Arrangement
Here’s a less than perfect playthrough of an arrangement I did.
Chorus riff v.2

Chorus riff v.2

Slight varitions compared to the v.1, dont know which one is better
Chorus riff v.1

Chorus riff v.1

Intro chords I suppose
Apologies for the bad quality, first time recording (with a phone)
I was to busy for Synners Saturday, sorry. BUT I still want to keep a quota of at least one upload per week, so here is something I've been working on for the past month or so... The lead parts of Whiskey In The Jar, so the intro and main solo. Im orienting myself on the Thin Lizzy version. For the most part, the Metallica version is just the Thin Lizzy version with more gain, but there are some differences, like the missing intro. I really love the solo, it's basically just a more fancy version of the vocal melodies, its really melodic. And from a theoretical point of view, its a nice combination of G major and G mixolydian.
Using what I worked on in my last $ynner Saturday post, I decided to continue working on some more Mario stuff, the Bob-omb Battlefield/Cool Cool Mountain themes, as it utilises the strength I've been working on building up in my pinky finger and hand as a whole! It needs work with a metronome, but getting the notes down is a good start! Then, I thought I'd briefly revisit Not Ready to Die from about 9 months ago (Yikes!). Turns out my sweeps are very much still rusty and need a lot more work. I'm still struggling to make it sound more fluid, yet I can mostly manage it when I sweep in the Mario Castle theme from a few weeks ago. Might be my next focus playing-wise, while I learn theory alongside it!
Sooo I don’t think the tabs I used are 100% correct but it’s Synner Saturday so fuck it...I do what I want 🤣 Got some new strings for Ruby today and had to jam a bit. Still been working on bends, pulls off and vibrato and this encompasses all three of those. I think the bends are definitely getting better 👍🏻 Happy Saturday y’all !
A bit late with the upload, I could have done a better job. Was working on standing, singing and playing something not too difficult. It was already late so I was focusing on keeping the volume low and how I speak. Had to go slow to try and get the timing right, it's tricky to sing and play. Not my first time trying, but I think I'm getting better at it. I will redo this soon and possibly attempt another set of vocals.
