The Stage - Second Solo
My technique and feel have improved *immensely* from working on this song.
Hey guys! So I've been practicing every single day for at least an hour and a half, and it feels great to be consistent. I looked at economy picking a couple of times throughout the past year, but always got frustrated and gave up. Well not this time! I've decided that if I'm ever going to get anywhere, I'll have to put in the work on my weaknesses. I started this economy picking exercise a week ago, around 70 bpm. Today, I got up to 135-140. Obviously it isn't perfectly clean, but I'm pushing the limit so I'll take being close. Tomorrow I'll try to get this tempo clean, and push it a little farther once again. Any tips on how to eco pick better, or anything you see wrong in this vid is appreciated.
This is from a rough practice session. Spent about an hour doing it over and over- this is one of the better takes. At the end I was about to go back, but I felt called to noodle around a bit first. I very obviously hit a few wrong notes, but it is what it is 😎. I'll post other stuff in the coming days and then come back to this song in about a week or so (I'll be working on it every day). I'll be sure to stay in tempo next time, too lol. This is to keep a tangible track of how my playing real songs improves. Thanks for watching.

D Major Jam

Hey guys. So I haven't posted here in a while, and I'm going to tell you why. I lost motivation. And this wasn't the typical "Eh, I don't feel like playing right now". I was in a rut. My dream/goal is to be a professional musician. To be part of a successful band and write amazing music that makes people headbang and cry and have fun. Well, I've become increasingly aware that while I have been practicing for the past year on the school, I was doing a couple of things wrong. 1. I haven't been taking any tangible action towards actually writing music. So now that I'm starting to, I'm writing cliche stuff and find myself stuck in dead ends. 2. Despite being on the school for over a year, I had to swallow the giant, shit-flavored pill that I rushed through the content. I treated it as a race, trying to get to the end as fast as possible. Obviously, that didn't do much for me. I still learned a good amount, but I had to admit to myself that my impatience got the better of me. (Cont. below)
This is the fastest I've ever played (with little to no tension). I started out about 2 hours ago at 60 bpm, focusing on every subtle motion, and playing as efficiently and clean as possible. I slowly moved it up to now (without stopping), at 140 bpm. I tried 150 and 160, but I'm not quite ready for that yet. My wrist does feel kind of tired, but it didn't hurt while playing. I might be overthinking, but Papa Gates said that you should be able to play at high speeds for a long time without feeling tired. So am I playing wrong, or is it natural to feel fatigue after 2 hours of playing? 😅😂 If there is anything wrong with my technique, please let me know. I really don't want any bad habits. Thank you so much for watching!
I took some advice from @[49467:@Ben newton] and worked on these things: 1) keeping my picking motion smaller 2) working on crossover picking before applying it to the alt. picking exercises 3) working on not rushing the metronome 4) using a clean tone while practicing If I still need work on any of these things (or you see any other problems) please let me know! Thanks for watching, and helping.
Hello again everyone! I've been working on these exercises for a while, and I'm sure my left hand is sloppy, but I'm wondering more if my picking hand looks okay? Papa Gates talked about how Syn and many other great players angle the pick and tilt it back. I tried to find a decent camera angle that shows my pick, hopefully you can see it. If not, please let me know if there's a better way to show it. Thank you guys for watching!

So Far Away (Solos)

Hey guys!! My name is Anthony, and @[5:@Jak Angelescu] has encouraged me to finally get out of my shell and post. I've been on the school for almost a year now, and I've incessantly battled the idea that I wasn't good enough to upload anything. But I suppose I'll always feel that way, so what good is practicing and grinding and playing if nobody gets to hear it?! Anyways, here is my first upload - So Far Away by the almighty A7X. Syn's emotion is so fucking good in this solo, and I hope one day I can make the guitar sing just like him. Any advice on bends, vibrato, or any feedback at all is always welcome! Thank you guys. Happy shredding 🤘🏼
