Different string tensions set ups with different scaled guitars and how does everyone go about maintaining their prefered setup with these changes.

Reading through again, it sounds like you’re used to 10s on a 27” scale and want the same tension on your 25.5. Ernie Ball sells some half gauges you might try, like a 10.5 set. StringJoy has a great calculator that will help you get close to what you want. https://tension.stringjoy.com/

Different string tensions set ups with different scaled guitars and how does everyone go about maintaining their prefered setup with these changes.

A 27” scale guitar with the same strings as a 25.5” scale will require more tension to tune to the same note, because the overall length of the string is longer. So if you’re using the same strings on both, the 27 will be pulled much more taut to maintain the same tuning. If you LIKE the greater...

Are the lessons going to be fixed anytime soon?

It's a free site. If you think you'll do better on JustinGuitar, go for it. Justin's a great teacher.

Speed Training Tool Not Working/How To Use?

@JakAngelescu - I have to be honest, I didn't know this was even there. Neither did several other mods. The options show up better on desktop than in the app, but there is a part for number of loops before the speed increases, and it defaults to 3, so that's three loops through the whole thing...

What are you practicing or learning right now?

Welcome! I'm sorry you happened to join RIGHT NOW, as due to issues with our video vendor, we're having to migrate that portion to a different place, and it's taking some time for our web development team to get done and tested. We have no ETA at the moment, and we ALL think it sucks, but when...

Steve Vai whammy trick in new Polyphia song

He appears to be dipping the bar on the descending arpeggio, and then releasing it slowly for the ascending part, ending with the cha-cha-cha-cha accent of scraping the edge of the pick across one or two of the plain steel strings perpendicular. Cool song - great to see old and new playing in...

    ETA On Lessons Being Fixed?

Unfortunately, not at this time. It's a vendor issue and changing vendors is taking some doing, as it also involves a lot of code changes, which means testing, etc. As soon as we are given a clear ETA, we will share it. Thanks! PS - yes, we know it sucks!

    Music and mental health

I was gonna start a new thread for this, but then as I was naming the thread, this one came up, and there's just so much great content in this thread that's worth revisiting, that I wanted to put it here. https://www.guitarworld.com/features/andy-timmons-mental-health Andy Timmons, as you may...

    Floyd Rose Questions

I have two Floyd Rose equipped Ibanez that are both over 30 years old, and I bought them new. I have abused the Floyds VIOLENTLY on stage. They have never broken, though I have had to replace some of the saddles because I tightened screws too tight and stripped the threading. There are many...

    Favorite chord progressions

I seem to favor a I-V-VI-IV. I wrote a song with that in about 1990, and then Avenged stole it from me for Afterlife's chorus. But then, maybe they stole it from Bush ("Glycerine"), and Gavin Rossdale stole it from me. :) (in ALL of the cases mentioned above, it was F-C-D-Bb)

    Monitor with Music

The way you play along on guitar is how I taught myself to play. It's the only way there was for the first 15-20 years. It's possible your electronic kit has an audio input? Then you could add music from a stereo, computer, or iPod/phone to that, and have everything mix in the headphones. If...

Just got my first set of Airpods Pro, and I got the brand new "2" version that just came out today. I'd already decided Exist would be the first thing I listened to, and holy shit, it's like hearing it for the first time.

    Custom-s

That depends on how brave you are and how much you trust yourself. Which frets are dead, let's start with that.

    Practise and the next level

Typical is down, but it should be dictated by two things - 1. What works for you, and 2. (This is the tough one for me) how the bit you're playing jumps from string to string and how that fits with your "inside" or "outside" picking preference.

    Practise and the next level

Hey Glenn. First off, solid tone you've got there (nice guitar). There are two things that stick for me as things to work on. The first is that when playing rhythm and chords, you're often straying a little too far away from the FEEL of the rhythm. I do that from time to time myself, but I do...
