what has been your worst live performance?

Once I was supposed to perform with a singer in my locality. During the rehearsals, the lower E string broke and no one had extra strings, not even me. This is a day before the show. Somehow no one found guitar strings, shop were closed etc. So I took a string from a Tanpura (instrument with 4...

    Happy Birthday Syn

It is 12 am midnight here. And I am thinking how one day a random song, playing randomly on YouTube, made this guy from India a die hard follower of your music. I can safely say, since then, the more I discovered your music, your solos, The more I was amazed at what can done on guitar outside my...

    I'm Giving up guitar sorry

Dude, I am sorry to hear that. Definitely don’t quit. You don’t have time. That’s fine. Don’t quit. I have heard many people regret it years after they stopped playing guitar (any other instrument in general). It is OK to feel bored, being in the rut. That’s just human nature. But don’t quit. If...

    Recording guitar on pc?

I use Audacity and I would say it does a decent job given it’s free software. But it’s just for recording. It is not a DAW. So definitely go for the paid ones. Logic Pro is the best. If you are on Windows, Ableton is the equivalent of Logic Pro. Both are really awesome. You do not need any third...

opinions on different kinds of picks?

I do not play jazz (almost never). But the picks I use are Alice or Dunlop Tortex (both 0.71mm). The Dunlop one is stronger in feel than the Alice one. Both are really good for fast picking for me.

    Practicing slow

same thing happened to me. just give equal time to each- lead and rhythm. you will weak at none. If you have lost touch in rhythm, it takes time to get it back. but don’t worry, you will get it back.

    Singing and Guitar

you can practice singing and playing together. For example, one of my friends practices playing scales while singing, or playing small sections of leads while singing. Set a time separately for that kind of practice.maybe 10-15 minutes a day

Is it even possible to do a whole step bend on the D string?

You can do it. It’s harder though. You need strong strong fingers. Some one said they go to gym each day just to be able to bend upper 3 strings.

Can anyone give some tips on writing a guitar solo?

I will just add one thing. Find out which guitarist’s solo you can really relate to. Listen to those solos. It will help you in structuring solos. Usually it’s a nice mix of slow melodies and fast shredding. But that’s too too broad.
