    GUITAR LESSONS INCOMING!!

Andrew, I do know Hector said he wants this to be for the school ONLY. That may change later, but for now, that’s how he wants it, and I think that’s cool.

    GUITAR LESSONS INCOMING!!

15 minutes in. I recognize all the shapes and patterns, and your explanations are making it clear WHY they are shaped that way, and why he puts them where he did. This is killer stuff, Hector. I can’t wait to dig into this more!

    Tuning problem

I hear you, man. I keep a lot of different guitars in a lot of different tunings for that reason.

    Tuning problem

    Yup. Guitar String Gauges Explained

    Tuning problem

I’m not sure you’re understanding. The problem is not the BRAND of strings (yes, you can use any brand) or the material (standard strings are nickel) but the GAUGE – the THICKNESS of the strings. The lower you tune, the thicker the strings you need to maintain stability and also to feel right...

    Tuning problem

So you’ve got the 24.75″ scale, the hardest one to work with for drop tunings. All is not lost – Matt Heafy from Trivium does just fine in Drop C#, but going another full step down from that is probably not going to work well. I have an Ibanez with a 25.5 scale, and it’s a bitch to keep in tune...

    Tuning problem

Also note, the lower you tune a guitar, the more finicky it is to tune correctly. This has to do with math and frequencies and other shit musicians don’t like to think about, but what it comes down to for us in the practical sense is scale length. Scale length is the distance from the bridge to...

    Buying a new guitar

Syn is definitely not afraid to wiggle the giggle stick on a regular basis. A *lot* of his solos include it. As Ids said, every one of his signature models has a Floyd Rose – that’s for a reason.

    Buying a new guitar

Ethan – nothing to regret there. Just an excuse to buy more guitars.

    Buying a new guitar

Looks like the same as the first one. In that case, price and shipping, along with reputation of seller/return policy, is KING!

    Buying a new guitar

The Floyd Rose is the whammy bar – it can do lots of wiggly, vibratey, dive-bomby things and it certainly has it’s purposes. Like Filip says, it can be difficult, too, especially for the newer player. I will be doing a detailed video shortly (I HOPE!) on the Floyd and all it’s many quirks...

    Buying a new guitar

Depends on what you want. The cheaper one has a fixed bridge, where the more expensive one has a Floyd Rose. The Floyd, if you want it, costs more and is worth more. The important thing, though, is that the PICTURE used in the first link is inaccurate – it’s not even the right model. The specs...

    Buying a new guitar

The picture is lying. The cheaper one also has a fixed bridge (not Floyd Rose), if you look down in the specs and at the “FR” appended to the end of the name of the more expensive one.

    HELP

Are you using this ASIO4ALL driver from Behringer? This is likely the one you need. https://www.behringer.com/Categories/Behringer/Computer-Audio/Interfaces/UM2/p/P0AVV/Downloads Also, in looking up your drum kit… Sigh… http://cdn.roland.com/assets/media/pdf/TD-9_OM.pdf I don’t think the USB on...

    HELP

Not in reaper. In Windows DEVICE MANAGER. ASIO4ALL is just a pathway from point A to point B. “There was an error loading the audio Hardware” is a computer’s way of saying, “I can see Point B, but it’s speaking a language I don’t understand, and so I can’t talk to it.” A driver is a translater...

Every one of my guitars was stolen today.

I’m so sorry, brother. It *will* get better. I’ve been in similar places – a lot of us have. It’s hard, and it sucks and sometimes you just want to say fuck it and give up. Don’t. Hang in there. We care about you.

    HELP

Devices do not have their drivers built in. I’m guessing if you went to DEVICE MANAGER, it would show an unrecognized USB device. Go to this page to see what you need to do to connect the TD-9 to your laptop. http://eg.roland.com/support/by_product/td-9/support_documents/

My guitar is a little noisy

What Adin said. Typically exacerbated by high amounts of gain/distortion. If you think that’s NOT it, please take some video so we can observe and consider. Thanks!

    Why does this keep happening?

Not sure, Dan. There are two things I can recommend, though? 1. Stretch before you play, every time. This is a great video. I still use a lot of these before I practice every day. 2. Meditation. 10 minutes a day can do wonders for stress. If you can do it before you play, bonus. The “Calm” app...

    Mad professor twimble demo

Thanks, Ids! Sounds good, but hard to really gauge the effectiveness, especially the more subtle aspects, here. It sounds really good, but do you feel the Dumble Magic?
